What Is Quality Function Deployment?UntitledA Customer-Driven Route to Better Design

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and design characteristics at every stage of product and service development. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno, it uses the House of Quality matrix to connect what customers want to how a design will deliver it. This one-day, instructor-led programme gives product designers, quality engineers, product managers and Six Sigma practitioners across Georgia a practical command of QFD. You learn to capture and structure customer requirements, build and interpret the House of Quality, resolve design trade-offs, and cascade priorities from product planning through parts deployment, process planning and production. For Georgia's fast-growing pharmaceutical, food and beverage, wine, fintech and IT sectors, the ability to design quality in from the start is a genuine differentiator. Start building customer-driven design skills with Invensis Learning.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and design characteristics. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno, its core tool is the House of Quality matrix, which links what customers want to how a design will deliver it.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD)?

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and design characteristics. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno, its core tool is the House of Quality matrix, which links what customers want to how a design will deliver it.

Who should attend QFD training in Georgia?

The course suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, marketing and R&D professionals, new product development managers, and Six Sigma practitioners. Anyone in Georgia who needs to translate customer requirements into design or service specifications will benefit.

Is QFD training worth it for professionals in Georgia?

Yes. Georgia's growing wine, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, fintech and IT sectors increasingly compete on quality and customer experience. QFD skills are immediately applicable and help you stand out in a market where structured, customer-driven design is scarce. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your start.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. There are no prerequisites. Familiarity with product development or quality management is helpful but not required, as the programme introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles.

    Is this a certification course?

No. This is a non-certification skills training course with no exam. It focuses on building practical QFD capability. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Georgia?

Pricing depends on the delivery mode, group size and format, so a fee is available on request. Live online, classroom and onsite corporate options are available across Georgia. Request a quote for pricing that fits your needs.

What is included in the training fee?

The fee typically covers instructor-led delivery, structured courseware, hands-on House of Quality exercises, templates, learner support, and a course completion certificate. Ask a learning advisor for the exact inclusions on your chosen format.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for product, quality and design teams. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is the price different for online and classroom training?

Pricing can vary by delivery mode, as live online, classroom and onsite corporate formats have different logistics. Request a quote and we will confirm the cost for your preferred format.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for QFD training?

No. QFD training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the one-day programme.

How is learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead you learn by doing: structuring the Voice of the Customer with an affinity diagram, classifying needs with the Kano model, and building and interpreting a House of Quality from a realistic scenario.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to capture and structure customer requirements, build a complete House of Quality, calculate column importance, identify and resolve design conflicts, and cascade QFD through parts deployment, process planning and production.

Do I receive a certificate after completing the course?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning once you complete the programme. Note that this is a record of completion, not an external certification, as QFD training has no certifying body or exam.

Which framework is the QFD course based on?

The course is based on the established QFD methodology and its four-phase model: Product Planning, Parts Deployment, Process Planning and Production Planning. QFD is also a core tool in Design for Six Sigma and the DMAIC Define phase.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The programme covers six areas: QFD principles and business case, the Voice of the Customer, building the House of Quality, interpreting the House of Quality, the four-phase QFD cascade, and QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service and software design.

Can a complete beginner take this course?

Yes. The course is designed for beginners as well as experienced practitioners. All QFD concepts and tools, including the House of Quality, are taught from first principles with hands-on practice.

Does the course include hands-on practice?

Yes. Hands-on House of Quality construction runs throughout the day. You practise VOC structuring, Kano classification, building a full matrix, calculating importance, and identifying design hot spots and conflicts.

How long is the QFD training?

The course is delivered as a one-day, eight-hour programme. It can also be arranged as two half-days totalling eight hours, to suit team schedules.

Does QFD apply to services and software, not just products?

Yes. While QFD originated in manufacturing, the course covers its use in services such as healthcare and financial services, and in software design. The House of Quality applies wherever customer requirements must be translated into specifications.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in QFD training in Georgia?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming schedules to get started.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, in-person classroom training, and customised onsite corporate training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and team.

    How soon can I start?

QFD training runs as public scheduled sessions and as corporate on-site programmes. Check the upcoming schedules for the next available dates, or talk to an advisor to arrange a session for your team.

Can I arrange training for my whole team?

Yes. Corporate onsite delivery lets a cross-functional team train together and build a House of Quality for one of your own products during the workshop, creating immediate value. Contact us for a group quote.
