Assessment

How is the Azure DevOps training assessed?

There is no formal exam or assessment. This is a practical skills course, so you learn by doing through hands-on Azure DevOps labs throughout the day, applying each service and pipeline concept as it is taught.

Will I receive a certificate after completing the training?

Yes. You receive a Course Completion Certificate from Invensis Learning once you complete the one-day programme. This recognises your participation and the practical Azure DevOps skills you have built.

Do I need an Azure subscription before attending?

You should have access to an Azure subscription and an Azure DevOps organisation, both available on free tiers at dev.azure.com, so you can follow the labs. We can confirm whether a shared training environment is provided for your session.

What will I be able to do after completing the course?

You will be able to manage repositories with branch policies, write a YAML CI/CD pipeline, deploy to Azure App Service or AKS, define infrastructure with Bicep, set up Azure Monitor and Application Insights, and integrate security scanning into the pipeline.

Is any prior DevOps experience required?

No prior DevOps experience is required. The course starts from DevOps principles and the Azure DevOps ecosystem, then builds up to pipelines, infrastructure as code and containers, so newcomers and experienced engineers both gain value.

Course Content

What topics does the Azure DevOps syllabus cover?

The syllabus spans six modules: DevOps principles and the Azure DevOps ecosystem, source control and CI, continuous delivery with release pipelines, Agile planning and infrastructure as code, containerisation and monitoring, and DevSecOps with test management and continuous improvement.

What will I learn about CI/CD pipelines?

You learn to design YAML pipelines in Azure Pipelines with triggers, stages, jobs and tasks, run automated build and test, publish artifacts, and use multi-stage deployment with approval gates and strategies such as canary and blue-green.

Does the course cover infrastructure as code?

Yes. You learn infrastructure as code using ARM templates and Bicep, including template structure, deployment modes, the what-if preview, and deploying infrastructure directly from Azure Pipelines for repeatable, version-controlled environments.

Are containers and Kubernetes included?

Yes. You work with Docker images and Azure Container Registry, then deploy containerised applications to Azure Kubernetes Service using kubectl and Helm from your pipeline, including image promotion and rollout strategies.

How much hands-on practice is included?

The programme is hands-on throughout. You follow along in the Azure DevOps portal and Azure CLI as the trainer demonstrates each service, building repositories, pipelines, IaC templates and monitoring dashboards using realistic scenarios.

How long is the Azure DevOps training?

The course runs for one day, around eight hours, covering all six modules with hands-on Azure exercises throughout. An extended half-day format over two days is also possible depending on the schedule.
