    There are two separate closed-book exams. The Foundation exam has 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. The Practitioner exam also has 40 questions in 60 minutes, but they are scenario-based, requiring you to apply BA techniques to realistic project situations.

    What is the passing score for each exam?

    The passing score is 65% for both exams, which is 26 correct answers out of 40. You must pass each exam separately to hold both credentials.

    Are there any prerequisites for the exams?

    The Foundation exam has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. The Foundation certificate is the recommended prerequisite for the Practitioner level, which is why the combined programme is taken sequentially.

    Where can I take the EXIN BCS exams?

    You can sit both exams online through EXIN's online proctored system or at an EXIN accredited testing location. They are usually arranged through the accredited training provider as part of the combined programme.

    What happens if I do not pass an exam the first time?

    You can re-sit the exam you did not pass. Our trainers provide guidance and practice to help you prepare for a confident attempt. Confirm the current EXIN re-sit policy and any voucher terms with our team.

    Course Content

    What topics does the course cover?

    The Foundation level covers 14 topic areas, including investigation techniques, requirements engineering, business modelling, stakeholder management and business cases. The Practitioner level applies these across seven scenario-based areas, all aligned to the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge.

    Do I need prior experience to take this course?

    No. The Foundation level is designed for those new to business analysis and requires no prior experience. It builds the concepts you then apply at Practitioner level, so beginners can complete the full journey with the right support.

    Are mock exams and practice questions included?

    Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams aligned to both the Foundation single-answer format and the Practitioner scenario-based format, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

    Is the courseware aligned to the latest specification?

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner Examination Specifications and the BCS Business Analysis Body of Knowledge, so you study exactly what the exams assess.

    What will I receive after passing?

    On passing each exam you receive the respective official EXIN digital certificate and badge, and the right to use the EXIN BCS Foundation and Practitioner in Business Analysis designations. You also earn a course completion certificate for the training.
