What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. If you do not pass in three attempts, PMI requires you to wait one year from the date of your last exam before reapplying, although you may apply for another PMI certification during that year. If your eligibility period simply expires without a pass, you reapply with no waiting period. Our mock exams, scenario practice and trainer support are built to help you pass first time.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PMP exam has 180 questions with an allotted time of 240 minutes (4 hours). Of those, 170 are scored and 10 are unscored pretest questions placed at random, which do not affect your result. Two 10-minute breaks are provided: the first after the case study section, the second about midway through the independent questions. The optional tutorial and survey are not counted in the 240 minutes. The 2026 exam uses case or scenario questions and graphic-based questions, both new in 2026, alongside multiple-choice single response, multiple-response and matching questions. Enhanced matching and point-and-click (hotspot) questions are available at test centres only. You can sit the exam at a Pearson VUE test centre or online proctored.

Which domains does the exam cover and how are they weighted?

The PMP exam covers three domains. In PMI's Examination Content Outline (July 2026) they are weighted People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%. People spans 8 tasks covering shared vision, conflict, team leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication. Process spans 10 tasks covering integrated planning, scope, value-based delivery, resources, procurement, finance, quality, schedule, project status and closure. Business Environment spans 8 tasks covering governance, compliance, change control, impediments, risk, continuous improvement, organisational change and external business environment changes. Business Environment rose from 8% to 26% in the 2026 update, the largest single change to the exam.

What is the passing score?

PMI does not publish a passing score or a fixed pass percentage for the PMP exam. Results are reported as pass or fail with performance feedback by domain, so aim for broad competence across all three domains rather than a target percentage.

Where can I sit the exam in Norway?

Which standard is the exam based on?

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

PMI publishes four qualifying paths and you need to meet one of them. Path A: upper-secondary or secondary school completion (EQF Level 4 / ISCED 34) plus 60 months (5 years) leading and directing projects. Path B: an associate-level, higher-certificate or advanced technical/vocational qualification (EQF Level 5 / ISCED 5) plus 48 months (4 years). Path C: a bachelor's degree, or an advanced professional qualification formally mapped to EQF Level 6 / ISCED 6, plus 36 months (3 years). Path D: a degree from a programme accredited by PMI's Global Accreditation Centre (GAC) plus 24 months (2 years). Every path also requires 35 hours of commercial training (often called contact hours) in project management, which this course provides. Your experience must be non-overlapping and accrued within the last 10 years before you apply, in a professional setting, leading and directing projects.

Does the course cover agile as well as waterfall?

Yes, and substantially. The exam covers three domains - People 33%, Process 41% and Business Environment 26%. You will work through Scrum, Kanban, Lean and XP practices and learn to combine them with plan-based delivery in hybrid programmes.

How many training hours does the programme provide?

The instructor-led programme runs to 32 hours, typically delivered as four full days, six shorter days or eight half-days. PMI requires 35 hours of commercial training (often called contact hours), so we provide supplementary study material to close the remaining hours.
