The Governance Skills You Will MasterApplied, Not Just Theoretical

COBIT 5 Implementation training teaches you to apply the COBIT 5 framework to a real governance improvement programme, across all four exam topic areas. By the end you can plan, lead and sustain governance improvement using the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

Build the Case for IT Governance

Identify the business, risk and compliance drivers for governance improvement, translate pain points into a business case, and secure executive sponsorship before a programme begins.

    Run the Seven-Phase Implementation Lifecycle

Apply all seven phases, from identifying the drivers to sustaining momentum, to plan, deliver and evaluate a COBIT 5 based governance improvement programme.

    Assess Current and Target Capability

Baseline governance capability, define realistic target states, and use the goals cascade to prioritise which processes to improve first.

    Lead Change Enablement

Apply the five-component change enablement cycle, run stakeholder analysis and communication planning, and manage resistance so governance change is adopted.

    Manage the Governance Programme

Structure the programme, build the improvement roadmap, manage resources and interdependencies, and track benefits realisation for leadership and the board.

    Embed Continuous Improvement

Move from one-off projects to institutionalised governance, sustain maturity through successive cycles, and build in-house capability that lasts.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) is the intermediate certification that validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 framework to plan and lead an IT governance improvement programme. It covers the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Implementation certification?

COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) is the intermediate certification that validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 framework to plan and lead an IT governance improvement programme. It covers the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

Who should take COBIT 5 Implementation training?

It is designed for COBIT 5 Foundation holders who lead or support IT governance improvement, including IT governance managers and consultants, IT risk and compliance managers, IT auditors, enterprise architects and CIOs driving governance transformation.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised in New Zealand?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and COBIT 5 Implementation is valued by New Zealand employers in banking, government, telecoms and consulting that run large, regulated IT environments. PeopleCert operates in over 200 countries.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Implementation?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. Candidates who do not yet hold Foundation must pass it before sitting the Implementation exam. There is no formal work experience requirement, though the level suits practising governance professionals.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation worth it for my career?

For many New Zealand professionals, yes. Governance, IT risk and audit roles here pay strong salaries, with IT governance and risk managers averaging around NZ$130,000 to NZ$135,000, and the credential signals you can lead improvement, not just describe it. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

    Pricing

How much does COBIT 5 Implementation training cost in New Zealand?

Pricing depends on the format and whether the PeopleCert exam voucher is bundled, so it is available on request. Live virtual, classroom and corporate options are available. Request a quote for current New Zealand pricing.

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes courseware aligned to the 2022 syllabus, industry case studies, mock exams, first-attempt exam guidance and learner support. Verify whether the PeopleCert exam voucher is included when you enrol.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

Exam voucher inclusion depends on the package you choose. Many instructor-led packages bundle the PeopleCert COBIT 5 Implementation exam voucher, while others price it separately. Confirm the inclusion for your chosen option before you enrol.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for IT, risk, audit and PMO teams. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

The exam is an open-book, objective-test paper delivered by PeopleCert, online proctored through OnVUE or at an authorised test centre. It is based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version).

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The paper has four questions, each worth 20 marks, for a total of 80 marks, and you have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All four questions are scored.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The passing score is 50 percent, which is 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Questions are scenario based, so both method knowledge and efficient use of the permitted books matter.

What materials are allowed in the open-book exam?

The exam is open book, and only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide. No other materials are allowed.

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can retake the exam if you are not successful. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to prepare you thoroughly. Confirm the current PeopleCert re-sit policy and any fees before you book.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Implementation training cover?

The training covers four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, all at application level.

What are the seven phases of the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle?

The seven phases are: what are the drivers, where are we now, where do we want to be, what needs to be done, how do we get there, did we get there, and how do we keep the momentum going. It is a continuous cycle, not a one-off project.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before this course?

Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation is assumed knowledge and is the prerequisite for the Implementation exam. Foundation concepts such as the five principles and seven enablers are not re-taught, so the course focuses on applying the framework.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive courseware aligned to the 2022 syllabus, industry case studies illustrating the implementation lifecycle, mock exam questions and guidance on navigating the permitted open-book references under timed conditions.

Which edition or syllabus is the training based on?

The course is based on the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version), with the COBIT 5 Implementation book and COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide as the primary references.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the COBIT 5 Implementation course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Our team can help you confirm you hold COBIT 5 Foundation first.

    How soon can I start?

New cohorts run regularly across New Zealand time zones. See upcoming schedules or talk to a learning advisor to find the next start date that suits you.

Can I reschedule my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact support to arrange a change to your enrolment.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations follow our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
