What Is the CSPO Credential and Who Is It For?UntitledYour Route into Agile Product Ownership

The Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) is a foundational Scrum Alliance credential for professionals who own product value, manage the Product Backlog, and turn stakeholder needs into delivered outcomes. It is earned by completing an approved course led by a Certified Scrum Trainer, and carries no exam, so you walk out certified. This CSPO certification training in New Zealand suits aspiring and practising product owners, product managers moving into Scrum, and business analysts taking on backlog ownership. Across the course you learn to define a product vision, set a Product Goal, order a backlog by value, and engage stakeholders through the Sprint Review, all aligned to the current Scrum Guide. Whether you work in Auckland's technology scene, Wellington's digitising public sector, or financial services across Aotearoa, the credential signals globally recognised product ownership skill and a two-year Scrum Alliance membership. Start your journey toward certified product leadership with Invensis Learning.

Invensis Learning is aligned with Scrum Alliance to provide CSPO certification in New Zealand. The training is delivered by Certified Scrum Trainers (CST) using official Scrum Alliance courseware and the CSPO Learning Objectives.

Define Product Vision and Product Goal

Craft a compelling product vision, set a Product Goal as the backlog commitment under the current Scrum Guide, and build a roadmap that connects long-term direction to each Sprint.

Manage and Order the Product Backlog

    Engage Stakeholders and Maximise Value

Identify stakeholders, run productive Sprint Reviews, capture the voice of the customer, and define and measure the value each Increment delivers to the business and its users.

    General

What is the CSPO certification and who is it for?

The Certified Scrum Product Owner is a foundational Scrum Alliance credential for professionals who own product value and manage the Product Backlog. It suits aspiring and practising product owners, product managers, business analysts and stakeholders who want a recognised credential and a clear grasp of the role.

Is the CSPO worth it for my career in New Zealand?

Yes. Product ownership skills are in demand across New Zealand government, banking, insurance and technology employers. Product Owner roles average around NZ$109k a year, and the globally recognised credential helps you stand out for product owner, senior product owner and product manager roles.

Is the CSPO credential recognised internationally?

Yes. The CSPO is awarded by Scrum Alliance and is recognised by employers worldwide, including organisations across New Zealand and Australia that run agile product teams. The credential and your Scrum Alliance membership travel with you across sectors and borders.

Do I need prior experience to take the course?

No. There is no formal education or work experience requirement. The course suits those new to product ownership as well as professionals who want to formalise existing experience with a recognised credential.

How long is the CSPO credential valid?

The CSPO is valid for two years from course completion. You renew it by earning 16 Scrum Education Units and paying the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee. A two-year membership is included when you complete the approved course.

    Pricing

What is included in the CSPO course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training aligned to the Scrum Alliance learning objectives, courseware and learning resources, learner support, and the two-year Scrum Alliance membership awarded on completion. Request a quote to see what is included in your chosen format.

How much does CSPO training cost in New Zealand?

Course fees vary by format and provider, so pricing is available on request. The fee covers the approved course and your Scrum Alliance membership; there is no separate exam fee because the credential has no exam. Talk to a learning advisor for current pricing.

Is there a separate exam or membership fee?

There is no exam, so no exam fee applies. A two-year Scrum Alliance membership is included when you complete the course. A membership renewal fee applies every two years when you renew the credential. Ask us for the current figures.

    Certification

How do I earn the CSPO certification?

You earn the CSPO by completing an approved course delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer. There is no exam: the credential is awarded on successful course completion, after which you accept the Scrum Alliance licence agreement to activate it.

Is there an exam for the CSPO?

No. The CSPO has no examination. Attendance and participation in the approved course is the sole requirement for certification, which makes it a fast, practical route to a recognised product ownership credential.

    Who delivers the CSPO course?

The CSPO must be delivered by a Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Trainer, which ensures the curriculum meets the Scrum Alliance learning objectives. This course is delivered in line with that requirement so your credential is awarded directly by Scrum Alliance.

How do I maintain or renew the credential?

Renew the CSPO every two years by earning 16 Scrum Education Units and paying the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee. SEUs can be earned through training, conferences, coaching and self-study.
