    Your New Zealand Skills Transformation

Your Before and After with RCA Skills

The Shift from Symptoms to Root Causes

New Zealand employers increasingly separate teams that fix problems for good from teams that keep firefighting the same issues. As audits tighten and continuous improvement spreads, structured RCA skills are what put you on the right side of that line. Here is the shift this training delivers.

The RCA Tools You Will Master

    Hands-On Skills for Real Investigations

This programme is built around the tools you will actually use on the job. By the end of the day you can select and apply the right RCA method for any problem, from a quick 5 Whys to a full 8D investigation, and prove your corrective action works.

Problem Definition and Is / Is Not Analysis

Write precise, factual problem statements and use Is / Is Not analysis to narrow down possible causes before investigation begins. This is where most RCA efforts succeed or fail, so you learn to separate what you observe from what you assume.

    The 5 Whys Technique

Apply iterative why questioning to drill from a symptom to the root cause of simple, single-cause problems. You learn how to reach a systemic cause, avoid stopping at blame, and verify the cause chain, plus when the 5 Whys is the wrong tool to use.

    Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams

Facilitate structured, team-based brainstorming across the 6M categories to map all potential causes of complex, multi-cause problems. You practise running a Fishbone workshop and drilling each branch to the most likely root causes with evidence.

    Fault Tree Analysis and FMEA

Use top-down Fault Tree Analysis with AND / OR logic for safety-critical events, and apply FMEA to prioritise corrective actions by Risk Priority Number. These tools handle the complex failures that simpler techniques cannot resolve on their own.

    The 8D Problem-Solving Methodology

Work through all eight disciplines, from team formation and interim containment to root cause, permanent corrective action and prevention of recurrence. You complete an 8D report for a realistic scenario, the standard used across automotive and manufacturing.

    Corrective Action and Verification

Develop corrective actions that address the verified root cause, then confirm they actually worked. You learn the difference between verification and validation, and how RCA supports ISO 9001 Clause 10.2 and CAPA in regulated industries.

What Our Learners Say About Us

"In terms of content, all good. But poor time management. Time expected for breaks was never compliant (ie. if teacher said he was taking 10 mins break, it ended up being 20. For 50 mins break, teacher was showing up AT least 10-15 mins late...) Also, during second day I asked one question about a test and teacher seem disappointed for me to ask and gave me a whole speech of me not retaining all information while reading (after hours of exhausted training) also letting me know people who does not focus tend to have Low IQ... Also, having to spend time just waiting for teacher to end notes that I guess it should have been ready already for the lesson (at least, if the teacher is expecting for the alum to memorize and know everything at once) "

    (3.0/5)

"Respective communication, steady pace of the class, not too fast but as well not too slow. A lot of space for open discussions and questionings. its not 5/5 because I believe the sessions consist of too much information for such short time. It could be organized in 1 more day, with less information per day, to have a better understanding."

"PD has been helpful to us during the course duration. He is elaborating the concepts and will not move to the next topic until we understood the topic concerned. He is also proactive in asking questions to ensure we are listening and following the discussion."

"The instructor is very knowledgeable and shared variety of examples to explain different concepts. The training was tailored to my understanding level which was very helpful. I had plenty of flexibility in break time as well as scheduling these sessions with my medical issues. Very grateful for this training and all the tips and additional materials. Thank you"

"The trainer has shared simple explanations by providing easy to understand examples when it came to the foundation training and theory. Also, I got a good understanding on what methods should I use when reviewing/ understanding and answering the questions for the Practitioner exam. Overall the 4 days of trainings I believe were fundamentanl in preparing myself for both exams (foundation & practitioner). I feel confident that I got the necessary information to prepare to take the exams. "
