What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP is a closed-book exam of 115 multiple-choice questions, in single-answer and multiple-answer formats, based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022. It is delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How long is the PMI-RMP exam?

You have 2.5 hours, or 150 minutes, to complete the 115-question exam.

What are the exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five domains per the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts, and our training and practice resources are designed to help you prepare thoroughly and pass on your first attempt.

What are the eligibility requirements?

PMI offers three routes: with a secondary diploma, 36 months of project risk experience in the last 5 years plus 40 hours of risk education; with a bachelor's degree, 24 months plus 30 hours; and with a GAC-accredited degree, 12 months plus 30 hours. This 32-hour programme fully satisfies the 30-hour requirement for the degree routes.

What will I learn in the PMI-RMP training?

You will learn to manage project risk end to end across the five PMI-RMP domains: risk strategy and planning, risk identification, risk analysis, risk response, and monitoring and closing risks, covering predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Do I need prior experience to attend?

Anyone can attend the training to build risk skills and earn contact hours. To sit the exam, PMI requires documented project risk management experience and education, and our trainers guide you on planning your experience hours before you apply.

Which standards is the course based on?

The course is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, alongside the PMBOK Guide, so your preparation reflects the current exam basis.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 115-question format and the January 2022 ECO, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you find and close weak areas.
