Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Certification (CM-F&P) is a two-level qualification covering the models, tools and practices needed to manage the people side of organisational change. Foundation validates your knowledge of change concepts, while Practitioner validates your ability to apply them to real scenarios.

    General

What is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification?

The Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Certification (CM-F&P) is a two-level qualification covering the models, tools and practices needed to manage the people side of organisational change. Foundation validates your knowledge of change concepts, while Practitioner validates your ability to apply them to real scenarios.

Who should take this change management course?

It suits project managers, HR business partners, OD practitioners, programme managers, consultants and leaders who guide or support organisational change. There are no formal prerequisites for the Foundation level, so it is open to professionals at any career stage.

Is the Change Management certification recognised in South Africa?

Yes. Change Management Foundation and Practitioner is a globally recognised qualification valued across South Africa by banks, insurers, consultancies and state-owned enterprises running transformation programmes, and it is recognised in over 150 countries.

Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification worth it?

Yes. Certified change professionals are scarce in South Africa while transformation demand is high, and certified change managers average around R935,000 a year. The dual credential proves both knowledge and applied competence, which employers increasingly ask for.

What standard and body is the certification based on?

The certification aligns to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK), maintained by the Change Management Institute, and to the current Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi. The current edition of the Change Management Practitioner Guide is the core reference for the Practitioner exam.

    Pricing

How much does Change Management training cost in South Africa?

Fees vary by delivery format and whether you choose individual or corporate training, so pricing is available on request in ZAR. The fee includes courseware, mock exams and learner support. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options.

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes syllabi-aligned courseware, industry case studies, Foundation and Practitioner mock exams and practice questions, learner support and a course completion certificate. Speak with an advisor to confirm what your selected plan includes.

Are the exam fees included in the price?

Exam voucher inclusion varies by package, so confirm at the time of enrolment. Some plans bundle the Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers, while others quote them separately. Ask a learning advisor for a clear, itemised quote.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for change teams, PMOs and HR functions across South Africa. Contact us to discuss a tailored quote for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Talk to a learning advisor to choose the payment option that suits you.

    Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

There are two separate exams. You sit and pass the Foundation exam first, then the Practitioner exam. Both must be passed to hold both credentials, and the 40-hour combined programme prepares you for each.

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions with a 40-minute duration. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 50 percent, which is 25 out of 50 correct. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation portion of the programme.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has five scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total, over 2.5 hours. It is open book, and the pass mark is 50 percent, which is 40 out of 80 marks. Change Management Foundation is a prerequisite.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

The Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the Practitioner exam. However, the scenario sections require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and solid method knowledge are both essential.

What if I do not pass the first time?

Our programme includes mock exams, practice questions and trainer guidance to prepare you for a first-attempt pass. If a resit is needed, you can re-sit the relevant exam per the current policy. Ask an advisor about retake options for your plan.

    Course Content

What change management models will I learn?

You will learn a broad range of models including ADKAR, Bridges' Transition Model, Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model, the McKinsey 7-S Framework, Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence domains and Cialdini's principles of influence.

What are the five topic areas covered?

The syllabus covers five areas: Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation covers them at knowledge level and Practitioner at applied level.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. Change Management Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all, so beginners are welcome. The programme builds from core concepts to applied practice, with case studies and practice questions to support you throughout.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware aligns to the current Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi and the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK), with the current edition of the Change Management Practitioner Guide as the core Practitioner reference.

What materials and practice are included?

You receive syllabi-aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies, and Foundation and Practitioner mock exams and practice questions. These help you connect models to real change scenarios and build readiness for both exams.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the Change Management course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help selecting a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online live virtual instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training. The combined programme runs for 40 hours, so you can pick the format and schedule that fits your working week.

How long is the combined programme?

The combined Foundation and Practitioner programme is delivered as 40 hours of training, typically over five full days, with Foundation content first and Practitioner content after. Schedules vary by format, so see upcoming batches for exact dates.

Can I reschedule or transfer to another batch?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans allow you to attend the training again. Contact our support team to arrange a change to your enrolment.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations follow our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment before you book.
