The Scrum Skills You Will BuildFrom Sprint Facilitation to Servant Leadership

This programme builds the framework knowledge and facilitation capability behind the Certified ScrumMaster credential. By the end, you can facilitate Scrum events, coach a self-managing team, and apply the Scrum values in real delivery, all aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives.

    Apply Scrum Theory and Empiricism

Skills covered in the CSM course begin with the empirical foundation of Scrum: transparency, inspection and adaptation. You learn how the three pillars enable teams to work effectively in complex environments and how Scrum connects to the Agile Manifesto and its principles.

    Live the Five Scrum Values

Understand commitment, focus, openness, respect and courage, and how they build the trust and psychological safety that make Scrum teams effective. You learn how a Scrum Master models these values and fosters a healthy team culture.

    Build Effective Scrum Teams

Learn the three accountabilities within a Scrum Team: the Scrum Master, the Product Owner and the Developers. You cover self-management, cross-functionality and how a small, cohesive team creates a usable Increment every Sprint.

    Facilitate the Five Scrum Events

Gain the confidence to facilitate the Sprint, Sprint Planning, the Daily Scrum, the Sprint Review and the Sprint Retrospective. You learn the purpose and timebox of each event and practical retrospective and facilitation techniques.

    Manage Scrum Artifacts and Commitments

Work with the Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog and Increment, and their commitments: the Product Goal, the Sprint Goal and the Definition of Done. You learn backlog refinement, writing good Sprint Goals and using the Definition of Done as a quality gate.

Serve as a Scrum Master and Servant Leader

Master the Scrum Master accountability across three areas of service: the Scrum Team, the Product Owner and the organisation. You learn impediment removal, coaching, mentoring and how servant leadership differs from traditional management.

Scrum Master roles in the Bahamas average around B$73,000 and rise to about B$89,900 at senior level, so certified agile talent is in demand.

What is the Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification?

The Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master credential. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values and practices that make Scrum teams effective. It is the most widely recognised Scrum Master certification globally.

Who should take the CSM course?

The course suits aspiring Scrum Masters, project managers moving to agile, and developers or business analysts who want to formalise their Scrum knowledge. There is no formal education or work-experience requirement, so it is a strong first agile credential.

Which standard is the CSM course based on?

The course is aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. It covers Scrum theory, values, the team, events and artifacts.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle. SEUs can be earned through courses, conferences, coaching and self-study.

    Pricing

The CSM exam is normally included in the course fee paid to the training provider. Request a quote for the current inclusions.

How much does CSM training cost in Nassau?

Pricing varies by format and provider, so exact fees are available on request. The Scrum Alliance exam fee is usually included in the course fee rather than billed separately. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

    Exam

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an open-book, online multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course. It has 50 questions and no proctor is required.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and you have 60 minutes to complete it. It is open book, so you can refer to materials during the assessment.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

You need 74% to pass, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The course prepares you thoroughly for this threshold.

What if I do not pass the CSM exam first time?

You typically have three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course. Our trainer-led practice and structured revision are designed to help you pass on your first attempt, so there is no need to worry about a single sitting.

Do I have to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

Yes. Scrum Alliance requires you to complete an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer before the exam is unlocked. Self-study alone does not qualify you to take it.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the CSM course?

You learn the Scrum framework end to end: empiricism and the three pillars, the five Scrum values, the three accountabilities, the five Scrum events, and the three artifacts with their commitments, all applied through the Scrum Master role and servant leadership.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. CSM is a foundational credential with no prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. The Certified Scrum Trainer explains each concept with practical examples and hands-on facilitation practice so you build real confidence.

How long is the CSM training?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement for CSM courses.

What materials and practice are provided?

You receive Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies, facilitation exercises and practice questions mapped to the CSM Learning Objectives, plus guidance on the online exam format.
