Turn Customer Needs into Robust, Verified DesignsUntitledThe DFSS Way to Build Quality In

The Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Training in Germany is a practical, one-day programme that teaches you how to design new products, services and processes that meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the outset. Instead of fixing defects after launch, you learn to build quality in from the first sketch. At its heart sits the DMADV roadmap: Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. Across the day you apply the tools that make it work, including Voice of the Customer (VOC) analysis, the Kano model, Critical to Quality (CTQ) flow-down, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), the Pugh selection matrix, Design FMEA and robust design. The training suits design and development engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers and Six Sigma practitioners who want the design counterpart to DMAIC. Across Germany's automotive, mechanical engineering, electronics and medical technology industries, employers increasingly expect first-time-right design that satisfies IATF 16949, ISO 9001:2015 design controls and EU MDR requirements. Start building that capability with Invensis Learning.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a practical, non-certification course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to Six Sigma quality levels from the start. It covers the DMADV roadmap and core tools such as VOC, QFD, Design FMEA and robust design.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma training?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a practical, non-certification course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to Six Sigma quality levels from the start. It covers the DMADV roadmap and core tools such as VOC, QFD, Design FMEA and robust design.

Is DFSS training worth it for engineers in Germany?

Yes. Across Germany's automotive, machinery, electronics and medical technology sectors, employers value engineers who can design quality in from the outset. DFSS skills help you cut late redesign, meet IATF 16949 and EU MDR expectations, and stand out for design, R&D and quality roles.

What is the difference between DFSS and DMAIC?

DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products or processes right the first time using the DMADV roadmap. Organisations use both: DMAIC to fix what exists and DFSS to design what is new. This course covers DFSS and DMADV.

    Who should attend this training?

The training suits design and development engineers, R&D professionals, NPD managers, quality engineers, manufacturing engineers involved in new product introduction, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belt practitioners who want to add the DMADV design method to their toolkit.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge?

No. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma ideas such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required. The course introduces every DFSS tool and the DMADV methodology from first principles, so it works for beginners and experienced engineers alike.

    Pricing

How much does DFSS training cost in Germany?

Fees vary by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate), group size and schedule, so pricing is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to individual or team training.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six DMADV modules, hands-on tool exercises, courseware and learning resources, and a course completion record. Request a quote to confirm exactly what your chosen format includes.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for engineering and quality teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote for your organisation.

Are there payment or instalment options?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the payment option that suits you.

Is a completion record included in the price?

Yes. There is no separate awarding-body or assessment fee, because this is a non-certification course. Your course completion record from Invensis Learning is included in the training fee.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for DFSS training?

No. DFSS training is a non-certification course with no exam. You learn by applying the tools to realistic design scenarios, and knowledge is reinforced through exercises and team discussion rather than a formal test.

    How is my learning assessed?

Learning is reinforced informally through hands-on exercises across the DMADV phases, including a VOC to CTQ flow-down, a QFD House of Quality, a Pugh selection matrix and a Design FMEA. There is no pass or fail.

What do I receive on completion?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning confirming you have completed the one-day DFSS programme. The skills are immediately applicable to design projects and do not expire.

Does this course award a formal qualification?

No formal qualification or credential is awarded by an external body, because DFSS is a skills methodology rather than a certification scheme. The value lies in the tools you can apply straight away at work.

    Will the skills stay current?

Yes. DFSS and the DMADV roadmap are established methodologies, and the tools you learn (VOC, QFD, Design FMEA, robust design) remain standard practice in product and process design. No renewal is needed.

What will I learn in DFSS training?

You learn the full DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) and the tools that make it work: Voice of the Customer, the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, robust design and design verification.

What topics does the course cover?

The programme covers six modules: an introduction to DFSS and DMADV, the Define phase (VOC and charter), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD), the Analyse phase (concept selection and Design FMEA), the Design phase (robust design and DFMA), and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You apply DFSS tools to realistic product and process design scenarios throughout the day, building a QFD House of Quality, running a Pugh concept selection and completing a Design FMEA worksheet.

    How long is the training?

The course runs for one day (eight hours), covering all six DMADV phases with concept explanations, real-world case examples and hands-on tool exercises. It can also be delivered as two half-days to fit team schedules.

Do I need prior experience to take it?

No prior DFSS experience is needed. Basic familiarity with Six Sigma concepts helps, but the course introduces every tool and the DMADV methodology from first principles, so beginners and experienced engineers both benefit.
