What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Bangalore?

Is a PMP required before taking the PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary, and many construction professionals hold both, but only the PMI-CP validates construction-specific expertise.

Which body awards the PMI-CP and is it recognised in India?

The PMI-CP is awarded by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is recognised globally across more than 200 countries, including India. It is valued by infrastructure, real estate and industrial construction employers who want globally credentialed delivery leaders.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how is it renewed?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To renew, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members for reference. Verify current fees on PMI's site, as membership can reduce the exam cost.

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, computer-based examination with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions. It is delivered through Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Results are reported with domain-level performance feedback rather than a fixed percentage.

What are the four PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains from the official ECO: Contracts Management at 50 percent, Stakeholder Engagement at 30 percent, Strategy and Scope Management at 15 percent, and Project Governance at 5 percent. Contracts Management is the largest and most heavily tested.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts. Our practice questions and mock exams are designed to build readiness before your first sitting.

Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers all four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance, plus cost, schedule and risk control, application guidance and exam strategy, aligned to the current ECO.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, all candidates must complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, 56 PDUs in total.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours of project management education, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours PMI requires across all eligibility sets. Confirm with us whether supplementary self-study is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, covering the four construction domains as PMI defines them.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute format, plus topic-wise assessments to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

You must complete the four prerequisite modules and meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, all within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.
