How is the PRINCE2 exam structured?

There are two exams. Foundation has 60 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes, closed book, with a 60% pass mark (36 of 60). Practitioner has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks in 150 minutes, open book, also with a 60% pass mark (42 of 70).

What is the passing score for each exam?

Both exams require 60% to pass. Foundation needs 36 of 60 questions correct, and Practitioner needs 42 of 70 marks. Foundation tests knowledge and comprehension, while Practitioner tests applying and tailoring PRINCE2 to project scenarios.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual during the Practitioner exam. It is scenario based, so time management matters, as the questions test judgement and application rather than simple look-up.

Do I need PRINCE2 Foundation before Practitioner?

Yes. Foundation is the prerequisite for Practitioner. PeopleCert also accepts some equivalents such as PMP, CAPM and IPMA levels. The combined course lets you sit Foundation first, then Practitioner, within one programme.

Where can I take the PRINCE2 exams?

You can sit both exams online through PeopleCert's proctored system, available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. Exams are usually arranged as part of the combined training and dual-exam package.

What happens if I do not pass an exam the first time?

You can resit an exam, and many training packages include retake support to help you prepare. Confirm the current resit policy and any fees with PeopleCert before booking.

How long is the training?

The combined programme runs over four days, around 32 hours of instruction. Foundation content is typically covered first, followed by Practitioner content, with each exam sat at the appropriate point in the schedule.
