    General

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Newark?

Yes. The PMI-CP validates construction-specific project management skill that Newark and New Jersey employers value as transit, port and public infrastructure programs scale. Construction Manager roles in NJ average around $152,920, and certified leaders stand out in a market short of construction specialists.

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) is PMI's specialist credential for people who deliver construction projects. It is designed for construction project managers, site and project engineers moving into management, owner's representatives and construction consultants with relevant experience.

Why choose Invensis Learning for PMI-CP training?

Invensis Learning is a PMI Authorized Training Partner offering PMI-aligned courseware, accredited trainers, flexible delivery and guidance on the four prerequisite modules and PMI-CP application, so you move from learning to exam-ready with a clear path.

    Is the PMI-CP recognized internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition across PMI's network in more than 200 countries. It is valued by contractors, owners and consultants who want a globally recognized, construction-specific project management credential.

How is PMI-CP different from the PMP?

The PMP is a broad project management credential across all industries. PMI-CP focuses only on construction, with Contracts Management as its largest domain at 50%. The two are complementary, and PMP is not required before PMI-CP.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can count toward renewal.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI-CP application, plus learner support and a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does the PMI-CP exam cost?

PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD, and prices vary by region and membership. For reference, it is around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members. Confirm current fees on pmi.org before you apply.

Is the exam fee part of the training price?

No. The PMI-CP exam fee is paid to PMI separately and is not part of the training fee. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost and give access to PMI resources. Talk to a learning advisor about what your enrollment includes.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customized schedules and volume-based pricing for construction firms, engineering groups and PMOs in Newark and across New Jersey. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer installment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions, delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center. It is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline across four construction domains.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and you have 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes, to complete it. The questions are multiple choice in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is by far the largest, reflecting how central contracts are to construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback such as Above Target or Target, so focus on broad mastery across all four domains.

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam the first time?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility window from application approval. Our training includes structured practice and mock exams to build your readiness, and re-examination fees apply to later attempts.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete all four self-paced prerequisite modules and meet one experience set: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn contract types and administration, claims and dispute management, stakeholder and owner engagement, scope and change control, construction risk and quality, and project governance, all mapped to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and its four domains.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

Anyone can enroll in the training to build construction PM knowledge. To sit the PMI-CP exam, PMI requires construction project management experience and completion of the four prerequisite modules. Our trainers help you understand what the credential requires.

Are the four prerequisite modules covered?

The training focuses on exam-ready mastery of the four PMI-CP domains and provides guidance on completing the four self-paced prerequisite modules, Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management, which award 56 PDUs in total.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, closed-book PMI-CP format, so you can identify weak areas and build confidence before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide, covering Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance.
