Construction Market Forces Driving PMI-CP Demand in Orlando

    Contract Complexity on Mega-Projects

Orlando's stadium, aviation, and resort programs run layered contracts and delivery methods, and weak contract administration drives disputes. PMI-CP puts Contracts Management, the largest exam domain, at the center.

PMI-CP builds contract and claims skills

    Stakeholder Pressure on Public Builds

Airport, education, and civic projects answer to owners, regulators, and communities at once. Managers who can engage every stakeholder group are increasingly the ones trusted to lead them.

    PMI-CP builds stakeholder engagement skills

Scope and Change-Order Risk in a Hot Market

Fast Central Florida timelines and material pressure fuel scope creep and costly change orders. PMI-CP trains disciplined scope baselining and formal change control to protect budget and program.

PMI-CP builds scope and change management skills

    Governance and Talent Gap

Orlando has 87,000 construction workers but far fewer credentialed construction project leaders. A PMI-CP with its mandatory module pathway makes qualified managers rare and sought-after.

PMI-CP makes certified construction leaders stand out

    Aviation and Hospitality Program Scale

Airport expansion and theme park capital programs demand governance, reporting, and risk aggregation across many concurrent packages, exactly the Project Governance capability PMI-CP validates.

    PMI-CP builds portfolio governance skills

    Capital-Cost Discipline

Rising financing and construction costs push owners to demand tighter cost, risk, and value control. Certified construction managers who deliver that discipline are the ones firms retain and promote.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry, validating your ability to apply project management skills across the construction lifecycle. It is designed for construction project managers, site managers, owner's representatives, and PMP holders working in construction who want a construction-specific certification.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry, validating your ability to apply project management skills across the construction lifecycle. It is designed for construction project managers, site managers, owner's representatives, and PMP holders working in construction who want a construction-specific certification.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Orlando?

Yes. Orlando's construction market is expanding through stadium, aviation, hospitality, and healthcare programs, and employers increasingly seek certified leaders who can govern contracts and stakeholders. Roles from Construction Project Manager to Construction Manager and Project Director command strong salaries locally.

How is PMI-CP different from the PMP?

The PMP is a broad project management credential across all industries, while PMI-CP focuses purely on construction, with Contracts Management as its largest domain at 50%. The two are complementary, and many construction project managers hold both.

Is the PMP required before taking PMI-CP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply directly based on your construction project management experience and education, though the two credentials work well together for construction professionals.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Orlando?

Instructor-led PMI-CP training fees vary by format and are available on request in USD. The training fee is separate from the PMI exam fee. Contact a learning advisor for current Orlando pricing and a tailored quote.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, guidance on the four mandatory modules, and application support, plus a course completion certificate and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI.

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

For reference only, the PMI-CP exam fee is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members. Prices vary and should be confirmed at pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam fee and give access to PMI resources.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customized schedules and volume-based pricing for construction teams, PMOs, and project offices in Orlando. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with installment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center, and is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. You are permitted up to 3 attempts within the 1-year eligibility window after your application is approved.

What are the four PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains from the ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%), and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is by far the largest, reflecting how central contracts are to construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target, or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

You may retake the exam up to 3 times within your 1-year eligibility window. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you prepare thoroughly before test day.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers all four ECO domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance, spanning contract types, claims, change orders, stakeholder engagement, scope and risk control, and governance across the construction lifecycle.

What standard and edition is the training aligned to?

The training is aligned to PMI's PMBOK Guide, 8th Edition, and the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline, along with construction industry standards referenced by PMI. This keeps your preparation matched to how the exam is structured today.

Do I need to complete the four mandatory modules?

Yes. Before applying, all candidates must complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs total.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute format, so you can identify weak areas and build confidence before you sit the exam.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hour requirement?

The instructor-led program provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires. Confirm with us whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-CP?

Beyond the four mandatory modules, you meet one of three sets: Set A, high school diploma plus 60 months of construction PM experience; Set B, bachelor's degree plus 36 months; or Set C, a GAC-accredited degree plus 24 months. All sets need 35 contact hours of PM education and recent experience.
