    Exam

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 50 multiple-choice questions in 40 minutes and is closed book. The pass mark is 50%, which is 25 out of 50 correct. It is delivered by online proctoring or at an authorised test centre, usually at the end of Foundation training.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam is open book and lasts 2.5 hours. It has 5 scenario-based sections, each worth 16 marks, for 80 marks in total. The pass mark is 50%, which is 40 out of 80 marks. The Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the exam.

What are the prerequisites for each exam?

Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Practitioner requires the Change Management Foundation certification, or an accepted equivalent, before you can sit it. The combined programme is designed to be taken sequentially.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the Change Management Practitioner Guide during the exam. However, the scenario-based sections require analysis and judgement, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and solid method knowledge are both essential, and we practise this in class.

What if I do not pass an exam on the first attempt?

Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and technique sessions to prepare you for both exams. Re-sit policies and any retake options are confirmed at enrolment, so ask a learning advisor about the arrangements for your plan.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the CM-F&P programme?

You will learn to lead the people side of change across five topic areas: change and the individual, change and the organisation, communication and stakeholder engagement, change practice, and personal and professional management, at both knowledge and application level.

What are the five topic areas covered?

The five areas are Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation covers them at awareness level and Practitioner at application and analysis level.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No prior change management experience is needed to begin at Foundation level, which is open to all. The training builds knowledge from the ground up and then develops the application skill you need for the Practitioner scenarios.

How long is the training and how is it delivered?

The combined programme is delivered as a 40-hour course, typically over five full days, with Foundation content first and Practitioner content after. It is available live virtual, in the classroom and as corporate group training.

Which standard and edition is the course based on?

The course is aligned to the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) maintained by the Change Management Institute and to the current edition of the Change Management Practitioner Guide and the Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi.
