The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes (one hour). It is delivered online via the Scrum Alliance portal.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74%, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The exam is open book, so focus on understanding the Scrum framework rather than memorising answers.

What happens if I do not pass the CSM exam first time?

What will I learn in the CSM course?

You will learn the full Scrum framework: Scrum theory and empiricism, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team accountabilities, the five Scrum events, the three Scrum artefacts, and how a Scrum Master serves as a servant leader who facilitates and removes impediments.

Do I need prior Scrum experience to take the course?

No prior Scrum experience is required. The CSM is designed for those new to Scrum as well as those wanting to formalise existing knowledge. The course builds understanding from the ground up, so beginners are well supported.

What learning materials are provided?

You receive Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies on facilitation and coaching, practice questions and reference to the Scrum Guide. These resources help you prepare for the online exam and apply Scrum at work.

How long is the CSM training?

The CSM programme runs for 16 hours of instruction, delivered either as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement for an approved CSM course.
