Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential for professionals who identify, assess and control risk on projects and programmes. It is designed for risk specialists, project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who want to prove advanced risk expertise beyond general project management.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential for professionals who identify, assess and control risk on projects and programmes. It is designed for risk specialists, project managers, PMO analysts and consultants who want to prove advanced risk expertise beyond general project management.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for my career in Dortmund?

Yes. Risk Manager roles in Germany average around 72,000 euro a year, with senior bands near 118,000 euro, and Dortmund's insurance, logistics and engineering employers value certified risk talent. The PMI-RMP sets you apart from generalists and opens senior risk roles. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Is PMP required before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do carry both, as the two credentials complement each other well.

Is the PMI-RMP recognised in Germany?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers globally and across Germany, and is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as insurance, logistics, energy and engineering, which are all strongly represented in Dortmund.

How long is the PMI-RMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To renew it, you earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in risk management topics within each three-year cycle through PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements system.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours of instruction, practice questions and mock exams, application guidance, learner support and a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for the current price in your format.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

For reference, the PMI exam fee is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, billed in USD under regional pricing. PMI individual membership (around USD 139 a year) reduces the exam cost. Confirm current fees on pmi.org before you apply.

Is the exam fee part of the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, so it is not included in the training fee. We can guide you through membership and exam payment as part of your preparation.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, delivery units and risk teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions to be completed in 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions, delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five domains from the Examination Content Outline effective January 2022: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

How many attempts do I get, and what if I do not pass?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you pass first time.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP exam based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) effective January 2022, aligned to the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the PMBOK Guide. This current ECO scope covers predictive, agile and hybrid risk approaches.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?
