The Risk Skills You Will BuildMapped to the Five PMI-RMP Domains

By the end of the programme you will be able to plan, identify, analyse, respond to and monitor project risk using PMI methods. The skills below map directly to the five domains of the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022.

    Risk Strategy and Planning

Learn to set the risk management approach for a project or programme: analyse project documents, assess the environment for threats and opportunities, confirm risk thresholds, and build a tailored risk management plan for predictive, agile or hybrid delivery.

    Risk Identification

Facilitate structured risk identification using brainstorming, the Delphi technique, SWOT, and assumption and constraint analysis. Document risks clearly in the risk register and validate the register for completeness with your team and stakeholders.

    Qualitative and Quantitative Risk Analysis

Prioritise risks with a probability and impact matrix, then apply quantitative tools such as Monte Carlo simulation, decision tree analysis, sensitivity analysis and expected monetary value to understand aggregate impact on cost and schedule.

    Risk Response Planning

Develop response strategies for threats (avoid, transfer, mitigate, accept) and opportunities (exploit, share, enhance, accept). Assign owners, define triggers and contingency plans, and integrate reserves into the project schedule and budget.

    Monitor and Close Risks

Track identified, residual and secondary risks against triggers, run periodic risk reviews, report on the risk profile to stakeholders, and formally close risks while capturing lessons learned for future projects.

    Exam and Application Readiness

Prepare for the 115-question, 2.5-hour PMI-RMP exam with practice questions mapped to the five domains, plus guidance on documenting your risk experience and 32 contact hours for the PMI application.

    General

Is the PMI-RMP certification worth it for a risk career?

Yes. The PMI-RMP validates specialist project risk expertise and can position you for roles from project risk manager to senior risk manager and head of risk. In Germany, risk manager salaries average around EUR 82,000 and rise well above EUR 118,000 at senior level, and Hanover's insurance, automotive and energy employers actively value the credential.

What is the PMI-RMP and who is it for?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management. It is designed for risk specialists, senior project managers, consultants and PMO analysts who identify, assess, respond to and monitor risk on projects and programmes.

Is PMP required before taking the PMI-RMP?

No. PMP certification is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your project risk management experience and education, though many holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials complement each other.

Is the PMI-RMP recognised in Hanover and internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers worldwide. It is especially valued in high-risk sectors such as insurance, automotive, energy and engineering, all of which have a strong presence in the Hanover region.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 professional development units (PDUs) in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, 32 contact hours of risk education, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing in Hanover.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, at roughly USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members. Fees vary, so confirm the current amount on pmi.org. Membership can reduce the exam fee and gives access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Is the exam fee part of the training price?

No. The PMI exam fee is paid directly to PMI and is not part of the Invensis Learning training fee. This keeps training and exam costs transparent and separate. Talk to a learning advisor for a full breakdown.

Do you offer group or corporate rates for PMI-RMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project teams, PMOs and risk functions in Hanover. Contact us for a tailored quote for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based test of 115 multiple-choice questions, taken over 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or a test centre.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

The Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 covers five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%). Our training covers all five in depth.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-RMP?

There are three routes. With a secondary diploma you need 36 months of project risk experience in the last 5 years plus 40 hours of risk education. With a bachelor's degree you need 24 months plus 30 hours. A GAC-accredited degree needs 12 months plus 30 hours. Our programme provides 32 contact hours.

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Your result is set through psychometric analysis and reported with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You may attempt the exam up to three times within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you pass on your first attempt.

    Course Content

Can a beginner or non-PMP take this training?

Yes. Anyone can attend the training to build risk skills and earn the 32 contact hours. To sit the PMI-RMP exam you must meet PMI's experience and education requirements, but no prior PMP or exam is required to start learning.

What topics are covered in the PMI-RMP training?

The training covers the five PMI-RMP domains: risk strategy and planning, risk identification, risk analysis, risk response, and monitor and close risks. It includes qualitative and quantitative tools such as the probability and impact matrix, Monte Carlo simulation and decision trees.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions mapped to the Examination Content Outline, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMI-RMP standard?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and to PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, covering predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

Will I receive a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate confirming the 32 contact hours of risk management education, which count toward the PMI-RMP application.
