What Is Lean and Why It Matters in Hungarian WorkplacesUntitledA Practical Introduction to Lean Thinking

Lean Fundamentals Training in Hungary is a practical, one-day course that grounds professionals in Lean management, the systematic approach to maximising customer value while removing waste from everyday work. Rooted in the Toyota Production System developed by Taiichi Ohno and Shigeo Shingo at Toyota, it teaches the five Lean principles set out by Womack and Jones in Lean Thinking (1996): identify value, map the value stream, create flow, establish pull and seek perfection. You learn to spot the eight wastes (DOWNTIME) and apply foundational tools such as 5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, standard work and Kaizen, with worked examples from manufacturing, healthcare, logistics and shared services. There is no exam; learning is reinforced through waste-identification exercises and case discussions you can take straight back to your team. That capability is in demand across Hungary, where BMW in Debrecen, Mercedes-Benz in Kecskemet, Audi in Gyor and a fast-growing battery and business-services sector all run on Lean operational discipline. Whether you work on a plant floor or in a Budapest service centre, the course gives you a shared vocabulary and mindset to contribute from day one. Start your Lean journey with Invensis Learning.

    What is Lean Fundamentals Training?

Lean Fundamentals Training is a one-day, non-certification course that introduces Lean management, the approach to maximising customer value while removing waste. Rooted in the Toyota Production System, it covers the five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME) and core tools like 5S, Kanban and Kaizen.

    Who should attend this course?

The course suits all employees, team members, supervisors, managers and professionals across any industry or function who want to understand Lean and apply it. It works well for teams starting a Lean programme and for individuals moving toward operational or continuous-improvement roles.

Do I need any prior Lean knowledge?

No. There are no prerequisites. The course introduces every Lean principle and tool from first principles at an introductory level, so it is suitable whether you are completely new to Lean or want to formalise what you already know.

Is Lean recognised by employers across Hungary?

Yes. Lean and continuous improvement are embedded across Hungary's major plants and supplier networks and now feature among the country's in-demand skills. Employers such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and the growing battery and business-services sector value staff who can spot waste and improve flow.

    Pricing

How much does Lean Fundamentals Training cost in Hungary?

Fees vary by delivery mode (live virtual, classroom or onsite) and group size, so pricing is available on request. Corporate group delivery is priced per team. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share current options for your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six Lean Fundamentals modules, course materials and case studies, hands-on waste-identification and 5S exercises, learner support, and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. Lean Fundamentals is frequently delivered as a corporate programme to large employee groups as the first step in an organisational Lean deployment. Group pricing depends on team size and format. Ask about corporate or group pricing for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you or your organisation.

Is a one-day course good value?

Yes. In a single day your team gains a shared Lean vocabulary and practical tools they can apply the next day, which is why organisations use it as the entry point to wider improvement programmes. The return comes from waste removed and improvements made across everyday work.

    Assessment

How are participants assessed on this course?

There is no exam or formal assessment. Learning is reinforced through waste-identification exercises, case-study discussions and team activities during the day, so you apply Lean concepts to realistic scenarios as you learn them.

Will I receive anything on completion?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. It records your attendance and the Lean foundation you have built; it is not a formal external credential, as this is a non-certification course.

Does this course lead to a formal qualification?

No. Lean Fundamentals is a skills-training course with no awarding body and no formal qualification. It builds practical Lean awareness and tool knowledge that is immediately useful in any industry or role.

How is the learning kept practical?

Through hands-on activities: a waste-identification exercise using the eight DOWNTIME categories, reading a simple current-state value stream map, and a 5S workplace assessment. Real examples from manufacturing, healthcare, logistics and services connect the ideas to your work.

What will I be able to do afterwards?

You will be able to explain the five Lean principles, identify and classify the eight wastes, describe 5S and its benefits, explain how pull and Kanban work, and apply the PDCA cycle to a small improvement, contributing confidently to Lean activities at work.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

The course covers the origins of Lean in the Toyota Production System, the five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), foundational tools (5S, Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, standard work, visual management), Kaizen and the PDCA cycle, and how Lean applies across industries.

What are the five Lean principles?

They are: identify value from the customer's perspective, map the value stream, create flow, establish pull, and seek perfection through continuous improvement. Codified by Womack and Jones in Lean Thinking (1996), they form the framework you apply throughout the course.

What are the eight wastes of Lean?

The eight wastes are captured by the acronym DOWNTIME: Defects, Overproduction, Waiting, Non-utilised talent, Transportation, Inventory, Motion and Extra processing. You practise spotting and classifying them during the course.

    How long is the course?

The programme runs for one day (8 hours), covering all six modules with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on exercises. It can also be delivered as two half-days of 4 hours where that suits your schedule.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. The day includes a waste-identification exercise, a value stream mapping data exercise and a 5S workplace assessment activity, plus case-study discussions, so you practise applying each Lean tool rather than just hearing about it.
