Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma concepts such as CTQ and variation is helpful, but the course introduces all DFSS tools and the DMADV methodology from first principles, so newcomers and experienced practitioners both benefit.

Assessment

Is there an exam for the Design for Six Sigma training?

No. This is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, worked design case studies and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certification after the course?

No formal certification is awarded, as DFSS has no governing body or exam. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that evidences the practical DFSS skills you have built.

How is learning checked during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply DMADV tools to realistic product and process design scenarios throughout the day, so you practise VOC capture, CTQ flow-down, QFD, concept selection and Design FMEA hands-on as you learn them.

What will I be able to do after completing the training?

You will be able to run a DMADV design project, facilitate a VOC workshop, build a QFD House of Quality, use the Pugh matrix to select concepts, conduct a Design FMEA with RPN prioritisation, apply robust design and plan design verification and validation.

Is any prior experience required to take the course?

No prior experience or qualification is required. The course is open to all and introduces DFSS from the ground up, though people who already understand DMAIC often find the design counterpart especially valuable.

What topics are covered in the DFSS training?

The course covers the full DFSS methodology: DFSS versus DMAIC, the DMADV roadmap, Voice of the Customer and the Kano model, CTQ flow-down and QFD, concept generation and the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, robust design and the P-diagram, and design verification, validation and transfer.

What is the DMADV roadmap?

DMADV stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. It is the most widely used DFSS framework and gives you a structured path to design a new product or process that meets customer requirements and reaches Six Sigma quality levels before launch.

Which DFSS tools will I practise?

You practise the core toolkit hands-on: VOC capture and the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, the QFD House of Quality, the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA with RPN, the P-diagram and robust design, and design verification methods, all applied to realistic design scenarios.

How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day, a total of eight hours, and can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. It covers all six DMADV phases with concept explanations, design case studies and hands-on tool exercises throughout.
