Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry. It validates your ability to manage contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance on construction projects. It suits construction project managers, site managers, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in construction.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

The PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry. It validates your ability to manage contracts, stakeholders, scope and governance on construction projects. It suits construction project managers, site managers, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in construction.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Lincoln?

Yes. Lincoln's pipeline of data center, infrastructure and commercial projects means employers value credentialed construction leaders. Construction project managers in the city average around $102,750 a year, and the PMI-CP proves construction-specific skill that supports higher roles and pay.

What standard is the PMI-CP based on?

The PMI-CP is based on the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and aligned to the latest edition of the PMBOK Guide. The ECO defines four domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance.

Is the PMP required before taking the PMI-CP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, and many construction professionals hold both.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how is it renewed?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. You maintain it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can count toward renewal.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Lincoln, NE?

Training fees vary by format, such as live online, classroom or corporate group training. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI in USD and is not part of the training fee. Contact us for current Lincoln pricing and batch dates, or request a quote.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training, PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support, plus a course completion certificate with contact hours. The PMI exam fee is not included.

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

Do you offer corporate or group discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate PMI-CP training with customized schedules and volume-based pricing for construction firms and public agencies in Lincoln. Ask about group pricing for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer installment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that fits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with 120 multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. You have 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center.

How many domains does the PMI-CP exam cover?

Four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), per the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What are the prerequisites to sit the PMI-CP exam?

You complete all four mandatory self-paced modules and meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

How many attempts do I get and can I retake the exam?

You get up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts; confirm the current amounts on pmi.org.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-CP training?

The training covers all four ECO domains: contract types and administration, claims and disputes, stakeholder engagement, scope, schedule, budget and risk management, and project governance, plus exam strategy and application guidance.

Do I need construction experience to join the training?

Anyone can join the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires construction project management experience and 35 contact hours of PM education. The program helps you build knowledge and document your experience for the application.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions and mock exams aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP format, plus quizzes to help you find and fix weak areas before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMI-CP outline?

Yes. The courseware follows the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the latest edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you study the domains and weightings the exam actually tests.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced modules: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs total that can also count toward renewal.
