How to Get PMI-RMP Certified in HanoiStep-by-Step Certification Process

The PMI-RMP certification path in Hanoi is a pure exam track: once your PMI application is approved, you proceed directly to the 115-question, 150-minute exam administered through Pearson VUE , no peer-panel review is required. From initial training to exam day typically takes 6-10 weeks, including application processing.

    Step 1: Confirm PMI-RMP Eligibility

Verify you meet one of the three eligibility sets. Set A: high school or secondary school diploma (or global equivalent) + 36 months / 3 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 40 hours of project risk management education. Set B: bachelor's degree or higher (or global equivalent) + 24 months / 2 years of project risk management experience within the last 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Set C: bachelor's degree or higher from a GAC-accredited program + 12 months / 1 year of project risk management experience within the past 5 years + 30 hours of project risk management education. Education hours must be in project risk management topics specifically.

Step 2: Enroll in a Learning Program

Choose a learning format that aligns with your schedule and goals, such as a PMI-RMP bootcamp, live virtual sessions, self-paced learning, or corporate group training. Enrollment provides access to PMI-aligned courseware, practice assessments, and expert-led guidance.

Step 3: Register on the PMI Candidate Portal

Create or sign in to your PMI account at pmi.org. PMI membership (~$139/year) is optional but reduces the PMI-RMP exam fee from ~$670 to ~$520 and gives access to the PMI Risk Management Practice Guide and the PMI Standard for Risk Management.

Step 4: Submit the PMI-RMP Application to PMI

Submit your application via the PMI candidate portal: document your project risk management experience, list your 30 or 40 contact hours, and pay the application/exam fee (~$520 PMI member or ~$670 non-member). PMI typically processes applications within 5-10 business days. Unlike PfMP, no peer-panel review is required.

Step 5: Sit the 115-Question PMI-RMP Exam via Pearson VUE

Once approved, you receive a one-year exam eligibility window. Book your PMI-RMP exam through Pearson VUE , online proctored from your home or office in Hanoi, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. The exam is 115 multiple-choice and scenario questions over 150 minutes, covering all five risk management domains.

Step 6: Earn the PMI-RMP Credential and Plan CCR Renewal

On passing, PMI issues your PMI-RMP digital badge and certificate. The credential is valid for three years; renew via PMI's Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) programme by earning 30 PDUs in risk-relevant content across the 3-year cycle.

Skills You Will Build in This ProgrammeAcross the Five PMI-RMP Risk Domains

This PMI-RMP training gives you practical, job-ready risk capability across the full project life cycle. By the end you can identify, analyse, respond to and monitor risk with confidence, using the tools and techniques the PMI-RMP exam expects.

Build a Risk Strategy and Plan

    Identify Threats and Opportunities

Run structured identification exercises using brainstorming, the Delphi technique, SWOT, and assumption and constraint analysis. You document risks clearly in the register and keep it complete across every project area.

    Analyse Risk Qualitatively and Quantitatively

    Plan and Implement Risk Responses

Develop response strategies for threats (avoid, transfer, mitigate, accept) and opportunities (exploit, share, enhance, accept). You assign owners, set triggers, and build contingency and fallback plans into the project baseline.

    Monitor and Close Risks

Track risks against triggers, monitor residual and secondary risks, and run periodic risk reviews. You report on the risk profile to stakeholders and formally close risks with lessons learned at project completion.

Manage Risk in Agile and Hybrid Projects

Apply the updated ECO's coverage of agile and hybrid delivery, adapting risk practices to iterative environments so you can protect value however your organisation chooses to deliver.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Yes. The PMI-RMP is a globally recognised specialist credential in project risk management, and demand is rising as Hanoi drives megaproject, PPP and digital-transformation investment. Certified risk talent is scarce against a deep project manager pool, so holders stand out for senior, better-paid risk roles across infrastructure, banking, IT and energy.

    General

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Hanoi?

    What is the PMI-RMP certification?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification for professionals who identify, assess, respond to and monitor risk on projects and programmes. It recognises expertise in mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities, and sets risk specialists apart from general project management practitioners.

    Who should take PMI-RMP training?

It suits project managers, risk analysts and specialists, senior project managers, programme and portfolio managers, risk consultants and PMO professionals. Anyone responsible for protecting project value under uncertainty, especially in high-risk sectors like construction, banking, energy and IT, benefits from the credential.

    Is PMP required before PMI-RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education. Many holders do carry both, as the credentials are complementary, but the PMI-RMP stands on its own as a specialist risk qualification.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle, which is fewer than the 60 PDUs required for PMP renewal.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee in Hanoi?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, 32 contact hours, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable templates, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI and is not part of the training price. Request a quote for current pricing in Hanoi.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

For reference, PMI lists the exam at around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; actual prices vary by region, so confirm current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership, around USD 139 a year, lowers the exam fee and gives free access to the Practice Standard for Project Risk Management.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-RMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. Your Invensis Learning training fee covers the instruction, courseware and prep resources; you pay PMI directly when you apply and schedule the exam.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing for PMI-RMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for project, risk and PMO teams in Hanoi. Contact us for a tailored quote for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions to be completed in 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book with multiple-choice questions (single and multiple answer), delivered via Pearson VUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. It is based on the PMI-RMP ECO effective January 2022.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and weights?

The exam covers five risk domains from the ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%). Questions span predictive, agile and hybrid delivery.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-RMP?

There are three sets. Set A: secondary diploma plus 36 months of project risk experience in the last five years and 40 hours of risk education. Set B: a four-year degree plus 24 months of experience and 30 hours of education. Set C: a GAC-accredited degree plus 12 months of experience and 30 hours of education.

What if I do not pass the PMI-RMP the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, practice questions and trainer support are designed to help you prepare thoroughly for a first-time pass.

How is the PMI-RMP exam scored?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score, so no fixed percentage is published. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-RMP training?

You learn to build a risk strategy, identify threats and opportunities, analyse risk qualitatively and quantitatively, plan and implement responses, and monitor and close risks. The programme covers tools such as SWOT, the Delphi technique, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value.

Does the training satisfy the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes for most candidates. The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour education requirement for Set B and Set C applicants. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 more hours of risk education alongside this programme.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PMI-RMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and to the PMBOK Guide and PMI's Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, covering predictive, agile and hybrid approaches.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions mapped to the 115-question format, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes so you can identify weak areas and build readiness before exam day.

Do I need prior experience to follow the training?

You can attend the training at any stage, but the PMI-RMP exam itself requires documented project risk experience. The sessions use practical examples and trainer support to make the concepts accessible, whether you are formalising a risk role or moving into one.

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website in a few steps: choose your format, complete payment, and receive access to schedules, courseware and resources. New live virtual and classroom batches run regularly. Talk to a learning advisor to find the next batch that fits you.

How do I apply for the PMI-RMP after training?

After completing the training, submit your application to PMI with proof of your education and project risk experience. Once approved, you pay the exam fee and schedule through Pearson VUE within your one-year eligibility period. Our team can guide you through the application.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.
