What does the CAPM exam cover?

The CAPM exam covers four domains from the 2023 Examination Content Outline: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts, Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies, Agile Frameworks and Methodologies, and Business Analysis Frameworks. It is aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide.

How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The CAPM exam has 150 questions and lasts three hours (180 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice question formats, including single-answer and multiple-answer questions.

Is there a fixed passing score for the CAPM exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed numeric pass mark. The passing score is set through psychometric analysis, and results are reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery.

Where can I take the CAPM exam?

You can take the CAPM exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through the Pearson VUE website or the PMI portal.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our preparation, mock exams and first-attempt guidance are designed to help you pass on your first try. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts.

Which edition is the CAPM exam based on?
