Which Scrum Guide edition does the course follow?

The course is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland, along with the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives. This is the latest edition of the Scrum Guide.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle.

Do I need prior experience to take the CSM?

No. There is no formal education or work-experience requirement. The CSM is designed for those new to Scrum as well as practitioners who want to formalise existing knowledge.

How much does CSM training cost in Ottawa?

What is included in the CSM course fee?

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam is an online, open-book, multiple-choice test taken through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. No proctor is required.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a 60-minute time limit. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

You must answer at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly, which is a passing score of 74 percent.

What if I do not pass the CSM exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within 90 days of completing the course, and our trainers provide preparation support to help you pass. Verify the current attempt policy at scrumalliance.org.

How soon can I take the exam after the course?

You can access the online exam through your Scrum Alliance member portal within 90 days of completing the course. Many candidates sit it within days of finishing training.

What topics does the CSM course cover?

The course covers all six CSM areas: Scrum theory and principles, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team, Scrum events, Scrum artifacts and the Scrum Master role, aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives.

Do I need any experience to follow the course content?

No prior experience is needed. The CSM course is beginner friendly and builds from Scrum fundamentals to practical facilitation, so newcomers and experienced team members both benefit.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest Scrum Guide?

Yes. The courseware follows the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition, and the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives.

Are there practical exercises and case studies?

Yes. The programme includes industry case studies and hands-on exercises in Scrum event facilitation, retrospective formats and impediment removal to build real capability.

How long is the CSM training?

The instructor-led CSM course runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days, which exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hour requirement.
