What is the CAPM certification and who is it for?

Is CAPM worth it for starting a project career in China?

Do I need work experience to take CAPM?

No. CAPM is the only PMI credential that requires no project management work experience. You need a secondary degree and 23 hours of project management education, which this training provides.

How long is the CAPM certification valid?

CAPM is valid for three years. To keep it active, you retake and pass the CAPM exam within the three-year cycle. Unlike the PMP, CAPM renewal does not use PDUs.

How is CAPM different from the PMP?

CAPM is the entry-level credential requiring only 23 hours of education and no experience, while the PMP is advanced and requires experience leading projects plus 35 hours of education. CAPM is the natural first step toward the PMP.

Is CAPM recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, CAPM is recognised by employers in over 200 countries, including across China's technology, finance, manufacturing and infrastructure sectors.

What is included in the CAPM course fee?

The fee covers PMI-aligned courseware, 24 hours of instructor-led training, mock exams, practice questions and learner support. The PMI exam fee is paid separately to PMI. Request a quote for current pricing in China.

How much does CAPM training cost in China?

CAPM training pricing in China varies by format and schedule, so it is available on request. Live virtual, classroom and corporate options are offered. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

How much is the CAPM exam fee?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 225 for members and USD 300 for non-members, billed in USD and subject to change. PMI membership, about USD 139 a year, lowers the exam fee. Confirm current fees at pmi.org.

What does the CAPM exam cover?

The CAPM exam covers four domains from the 2023 Examination Content Outline: Project Management Fundamentals and Core Concepts (36%), Predictive Plan-Based Methodologies (17%), Agile Frameworks and Methodologies (20%), and Business Analysis Frameworks (27%).

How many questions are on the CAPM exam and how long is it?

The CAPM exam has 150 questions and lasts three hours (180 minutes). It is a closed-book, multiple-choice exam with single-answer and multiple-answer question formats.

Where and how do I take the CAPM exam?

You can sit the CAPM exam online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

Is there a fixed passing score for CAPM?

No. PMI sets the passing score using psychometric analysis rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement across the four CAPM domains, so aim for broad mastery.

Which edition is the CAPM exam based on?

The CAPM exam is based on PMI's Examination Content Outline effective 2023, aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition and the Agile Practice Guide.

How many attempts do I get for the CAPM exam?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from the date of application approval.
