What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PgMP worth it for programme leaders in Nanjing?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised marker of programme leadership, held by fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide. In Nanjing it is valued by semiconductor, automotive, manufacturing and software employers running large programmes. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your route.

Do I need a PMP before the PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three PgMP eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PgMP is valid for three years. You maintain it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle (minimum eight PDUs in each of Ways of Working, Power Skills and Business Acumen) within each three-year CCR cycle.

What standard is the PgMP based on?

The PgMP is based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, from PMI. The exam covers five performance domains: strategic programme management, programme life cycle management, benefits management, stakeholder engagement and governance.

How much does PgMP training cost in Nanjing?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider, and are available on request for live online, classroom and corporate options. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current batch pricing.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam-simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference, it is around USD 800 for PMI members and USD 1,000 for non-members; confirm current fees at pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams, simulator and trainer support are designed to build readiness before your first sitting.

How long is the PgMP exam and how many questions?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions in a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions.

What are the PgMP exam domains and weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), per the current PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are set by psychometric analysis and reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement per domain, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

Where can I take the PgMP exam?

You can sit the exam via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE within your one-year eligibility window.

Course Content

Can a first-time programme manager follow the training?

The training is built for experienced professionals, but it guides you through each domain step by step. If you already meet PMI's programme experience requirements, the course consolidates that experience and prepares you for the exam and panel review.

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

It covers the five PgMP performance domains, plus programme finances, risk, procurement and communications, and guidance on the application and multi-rater panel review, all aligned to The Standard for Program Management, 4th Edition.

What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP ECO and Handbook, an overview of the Standard for Program Management, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and an exam simulator mapped to the PgMP Examination Content Outline to help you find weak areas and build exam readiness.

Anyone can join the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires a secondary or four-year degree plus programme and project management experience within the past 15 years (Set A, B or C), and a multi-rater panel review.
