What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PgMP worth it for professionals in Shanghai?

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PgMP is valid for three years. You maintain it by earning 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each of the three areas.

Is the PgMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential the PgMP carries global recognition across more than 200 countries and is referenced by senior employers worldwide as a benchmark for programme management excellence.

How much does PgMP training cost in Shanghai?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider and are available on request for Shanghai batches. The fee typically covers courseware, practice questions, mock exams and application support, while the PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee usually includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, an exam simulator, templates, application and panel-review support, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing (for reference, around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members). PMI membership can reduce the exam fee. Confirm current fees at pmi.org.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

What happens if I do not pass the PgMP exam first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our training includes mock exams, an exam simulator and domain-wise practice to build readiness. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is closed book and uses multiple-choice question formats, delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential.

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers all five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus the PMI application, panel review and exam strategy.

Which standard is the PgMP based on?

The PgMP is based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, from PMI. Our courseware is aligned to this current standard.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the training?

The training is built for experienced managers, since the PgMP itself requires substantial programme management experience. The courseware, examples and support help you consolidate knowledge and prepare for the exam and panel review.

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and an exam simulator mapped to the 170-question format, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.
