What You Will Master in This ProgrammeSkills Mapped to the Four PMI-CP Domains

This PMI-CP training builds the construction project management skills the exam and real projects demand. By the end, you can manage contracts, engage stakeholders, control scope and risk, and govern delivery across the full construction lifecycle.

    Contract Types and Delivery Methods

Skills covered in the PMI-CP start with the exam's largest domain: you will learn to evaluate contract types (lump sum, cost-plus, GMP, target cost) and delivery methods (design-bid-build, design-build, EPC, IPD), and advise on risk allocation for each construction project.

    Contract Administration and Subcontracts

Administer construction contracts end to end: interpret terms, manage notices, payment applications and retainage, and control subcontract and supplier agreements so obligations and performance stay on track.

    Variations, Claims and Dispute Management

Identify, document and evaluate scope changes and variation orders, and manage claims for delay, disruption and differing site conditions through negotiation, mediation, adjudication and arbitration.

    Stakeholder and Owner Engagement

Identify, analyse and engage owners, designers, contractors, regulators and communities, and run the communications that keep complex construction projects aligned across their lifecycle.

Strategy, Scope, Schedule and Risk Control

Define the project execution plan and scope baseline, then manage schedule, budget, risk and quality using critical path and earned value techniques to keep delivery on target.

    Project Governance and Reporting

Establish governance frameworks, decision rights and reporting, run performance reviews and audits, and maintain document control, compliance and ethical conduct across the project.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO).

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Results are reported with domain-level feedback rather than a fixed percentage score.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains per the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting its centrality in construction.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain performance feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam the first time?

PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer guidance are designed to build your readiness before you sit the exam.

What are the prerequisites and mandatory modules for the PMI-CP?

You must complete four self-paced modules (Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management), each 14 PDUs, plus construction experience and 35 contact hours of project management education. Experience needed is 60, 36 or 24 months depending on your education.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), including contract types, variations, claims, stakeholder engagement, scope, schedule, risk and governance.

How do the four mandatory prerequisite modules work?

All candidates must complete four self-paced foundational modules in any order before applying, each a 6 to 10 hour commitment awarding 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs total. Our training includes guidance on completing these modules alongside your exam preparation.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires. Ask us how supplementary self-study and pre-reading can be credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the PMBOK Guide, covering the four exam domains and construction industry practices as PMI defines them.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PMI-CP exam?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires the four completed modules, 35 contact hours of PM education, and construction project management experience of 60, 36 or 24 months depending on your education and whether it is from a GAC-accredited programme.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.

What training formats are available in Shanghai?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training, so professionals in Shanghai can choose the format that fits their schedule and project commitments.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this before your batch begins.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
