What Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Course?UntitledYour Route to Certified Change Leadership

Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification training in China prepares you to lead the people and culture side of organisational change with a globally recognised credential. The Change Management Foundation and Practitioner (CM-F&P) qualification validates both your understanding of change management models and your ability to apply them to real organisational scenarios, drawing on the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) maintained by the Change Management Institute. Delivered as a 40-hour combined programme, the course covers both levels end to end. It suits change managers, project and programme managers, HR business partners and transformation leaders across China's technology, electric vehicle, financial services and advanced manufacturing sectors. With change management now appearing in almost half of all digital transformation roles in China, certified professionals who can guide people through change are in strong demand. What Is Fuelling Demand for Change Skills in China

    Transformation Adoption Gap

Chinese enterprises invest heavily in digital transformation, yet many programmes stall at go-live because the people side is neglected. Certified change professionals close the gap between new systems and real adoption.

CM-F&P builds adoption and embedding skills

    Scarce Seasoned Change Talent

China's talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in experienced change and transformation specialists. A recognised Foundation and Practitioner credential makes qualified holders far easier to find and hire.

CM-F&P makes certified change managers stand out

    SOE Reform and Restructuring

State-owned enterprise reform and enterprise restructuring reshape roles, structures and culture at scale, demanding structured stakeholder engagement and resistance management that change practitioners are trained to lead.

CM-F&P builds stakeholder and governance skills

    Controlled, Complex Scale-Up

Technology, EV, consumer and life-sciences firms must scale in a more controlled way through growth bottlenecks, making disciplined change planning and benefit realisation essential to sustainable growth.

    CM-F&P builds change planning capability

    Resistance and Culture Barriers

Change fails when people resist and old behaviours persist. Models such as ADKAR and Bridges' Transition help practitioners diagnose where change stalls and design interventions that shift mindsets and habits.

    CM-F&P builds individual change skills

    Change Fatigue and Overload

Concurrent transformation, technology and regulatory changes overload teams and erode capacity. Change professionals manage saturation, sequence change and protect wellbeing so initiatives land rather than burn out.

CM-F&P builds resilience and prioritisation skills

By the end, you can plan, lead and embed change and apply the models to real scenarios.

    Lead Organisational Change

Select and apply organisational change models including Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model and the McKinsey 7-S Framework, and diagnose culture and readiness so you can choose the right approach for a given change scenario.

Who should take this change management course?

It suits change managers, project and programme managers, HR business partners, OD practitioners, consultants and senior leaders who sponsor or deliver change. There are no formal prerequisites for Foundation, so it is open to professionals at any career stage across China.

    Is the qualification recognised internationally?

Yes. The Change Management qualification is recognised in over 150 countries and is well respected wherever organisational change is a recognised discipline. That global recognition makes it valuable to both multinationals and local employers operating in China.

What models and theories does it cover?

The syllabus covers a broad range of change models, including Bridges' Transition Model, ADKAR, Lewin's Three-Step Model, Kotter's 8-Step Model, the McKinsey 7-S Framework, Schein's culture model, Goleman's emotional intelligence and Cialdini's principles of influence.

    Pricing

What is included in the course fee?

The training fee typically includes instructor-led sessions, change management courseware aligned to the current syllabi, industry case studies, mock exams and learner support. Both exam vouchers are commonly bundled in the package. Request a quote to confirm current inclusions.

How much does the training cost in China?

Pricing varies by delivery format and schedule, so it is available on request. The combined Foundation and Practitioner programme is usually bought as one training and dual-exam bundle. Talk to a learning advisor for current China pricing and any group offers.

Are the exam fees part of the price?

Exam vouchers for both the Foundation and Practitioner exams are typically included in the training package, though this varies by provider and region. Ask a learning advisor to confirm whether the current package includes both exam fees before you enrol.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, HR functions and transformation teams. Onsite and live virtual delivery are both available across China. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you and to ask about corporate or group pricing for your team.

    Exam

How many exams are there in the combined programme?

There are two separate exams. The Foundation exam has 50 questions in 40 minutes, closed book, with a 50% pass mark (25 out of 50). The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections worth 16 marks each (80 total) over 2.5 hours, open book, with a 50% pass mark (40 out of 80).

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam is closed book with 50 single-answer multiple-choice questions to complete in 40 minutes. You need 50%, or 25 correct answers, to pass. It is usually taken at the end of the Foundation portion of the training.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

You may use the Change Management Practitioner Guide during the exam. However, the five scenario-based sections require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and deep understanding of the models are both essential.

What are the prerequisites for the Practitioner exam?

You need to hold Change Management Foundation, or an accepted equivalent, before sitting the Practitioner exam. Foundation has no formal prerequisites, so most learners take the combined programme and sit both exams in sequence.

What if I do not pass an exam the first time?

You can prepare thoroughly with our mock exams and trainer guidance to sit both exams with confidence. Re-sit policies and any retake support vary by package, so ask a learning advisor about the options that apply to your enrolment before you book.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the change management course?

You will learn to guide individuals through change, apply organisational change models, engage stakeholders, plan and embed change, and use emotional intelligence and coaching. The five topic areas run from Foundation knowledge to applied Practitioner competence.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all, regardless of prior change experience. The training builds from core concepts to applied practice, with case studies and mock exams, so beginners and experienced professionals can both follow the path.

What are the five topic areas covered?

The five areas are Change and the Individual, Change and the Organisation, Communication and Stakeholder Engagement, Change Practice, and Personal and Professional Management. Foundation covers them at awareness level; Practitioner applies them to real scenarios.

Is the courseware aligned with the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Change Management Foundation and Practitioner exam syllabi and the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) maintained by the Change Management Institute, so you study the models and content the exams assess.

Are practice tests and case studies included?

Yes. The programme includes mock exams and practice questions for both levels, plus industry-driven case studies that show change models, stakeholder engagement and change planning applied in realistic organisational scenarios.

How do I enrol in the course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Speak to a learning advisor if you would like help choosing a batch.

What training formats are available in China?
