The PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner (PRINCE2-F&P) certification is a globally recognised project management qualification that proves you can both work within and lead projects run the PRINCE2 way. It is built on the current PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023), created by AXELOS and awarded by PeopleCert. This combined pathway carries you from method awareness at Foundation level to confident application and tailoring at Practitioner level, and Invensis Learning's PRINCE2 Certification Training in Shanghai turns that journey into one structured, exam-ready programme. Shanghai is a magnet for multinational regional headquarters, financial services and advanced manufacturing, and employers here increasingly expect project professionals to share a common, controlled project language. Whether you are new to the method, moving from a delivery role into project management, or a practising manager formalising your knowledge, this training maps directly to what local hiring teams value. You learn the seven principles, the People capability, the seven practices and the seven processes, then practise applying and tailoring them to real scenarios. Start your PRINCE2 journey with Invensis Learning and step into your next project with a credential recognised across China and worldwide.

Invensis Learning is a Peoplecert Accredited Training Organization (2778) in Shanghai, approved to deliver official PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner Certification training using accredited courseware and standards.

What Is Fuelling Demand for Structured Project Delivery in Shanghai

    Cross-Border Project Complexity

Shanghai hosts hundreds of multinational regional headquarters running projects across markets and time zones, and many lack one controlled method to keep delivery consistent, the exact gap PRINCE2 closes.

PRINCE2 builds controlled, tailored governance skills

    Financial Services Transformation

Banks, insurers and fintech firms in Shanghai run heavy digital and regulatory change programmes where weak project control causes cost and compliance risk that trained practitioners are hired to manage.

PRINCE2 builds business case and risk skills

    Advanced Manufacturing and EV Scale

The city's automotive, semiconductor and green-tech push funds complex capital projects that demand product-based planning, stage control and risk aggregation across many concurrent workstreams.

PRINCE2 builds stage control and planning skills

    Method Standardisation Gap

Many Shanghai teams still run projects on ad hoc methods, so leaders struggle to compare, govern and audit delivery. A common PRINCE2 method fixes this with defined roles and controls.

PRINCE2 gives teams a shared project language

    Certified Talent Scarcity

China's talent pool is deep in engineers and delivery staff but thin in credentialed project practitioners, so PRINCE2 holders are visible and valued in a competitive hiring market.

PRINCE2 makes certified practitioners stand out

    Digital Transformation Pressure

AI, cloud and data programmes across Shanghai move fast, and boards want governance that flexes without losing control, which PRINCE2 7 delivers through tailoring and agile integration.

    General

Is the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner certification worth it in Shanghai?

Yes. PRINCE2 is a globally recognised project management method valued by Shanghai's multinational headquarters, financial services firms, technology companies and manufacturers. Certified professionals move into project manager and PMO roles, and Project Manager salaries in Shanghai average around ¥340,000 per year, with senior bands reaching higher.

What is the PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner certification?

PRINCE2 (PRojects IN Controlled Environments) is a structured project management method covering seven principles, the People capability, seven practices and seven processes. The combined certification proves you can both work within a PRINCE2 project (Foundation) and apply and tailor the method to real scenarios (Practitioner).

Which PRINCE2 edition does this course cover?

The training covers the current PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023). PRINCE2 7 introduced the People capability as a core element, renamed Themes to Practices, and integrated agile, commercial management and sustainability across the method.

Who governs and awards PRINCE2 certification?

PRINCE2 was created by AXELOS and is owned, published and examined by PeopleCert, which acquired AXELOS in 2021. Exams are delivered online or at authorised test centres worldwide, including from Shanghai.

Who should take the combined PRINCE2 course?

It suits aspiring and practising project managers, project team members, and IT professionals moving into delivery roles. Foundation has no prerequisites, so beginners can start, while the Practitioner level builds the applied skills experienced managers need.

How long is the PRINCE2 certification valid?

Both PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner are valid for three years. You renew by earning CPD points through a PeopleCert MyAxelos subscription, retaking the exam, or passing a higher-level PRINCE2 qualification.

    Pricing

How much does PRINCE2 training cost in Shanghai?

Fees vary by format, whether live online, classroom or corporate group training, and by the inclusions you choose. The training fee is separate from the PeopleCert exam fees. For current pricing in your preferred format, request a quote from a learning advisor.

What is included in the PRINCE2 course fee?

The training fee typically includes accredited PRINCE2 7 courseware, instructor-led or self-paced access, practice questions, mock exams, chapter quizzes and learner support. Exam vouchers are often bundled in accredited packages; confirm this when you enrol.

Are the PRINCE2 exam fees included in the training price?

Exam fees are set by PeopleCert and vary by region and channel. Many accredited packages bundle the Foundation and Practitioner exam vouchers with the training, so ask your advisor whether your chosen package includes both exams.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts for PRINCE2 training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for delivery teams, PMOs and business units across Shanghai. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you best.

    Exam

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam has 60 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. It is closed book, and the pass mark is 60 percent, which is 36 out of 60 correct. It tests knowledge and comprehension of the PRINCE2 method.

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, over 150 minutes. It is open book, with the PRINCE2 manual permitted, and scenario based. The pass mark is 60 percent, which is 42 out of 70 marks.

Do I need Foundation before taking the Practitioner exam?

Yes. PRINCE2 Foundation is the prerequisite for the Practitioner exam. Accepted equivalents include PMP, CAPM and IPMA Levels A to D. The combined course prepares and sequences both exams for you.

Where can I sit the PRINCE2 exams?

You can take both exams online through PeopleCert's online proctored system, available 24 hours a day, or at an authorised test centre. Exams are usually arranged through your accredited training package.

What happens if I do not pass an exam the first time?

You can resit the exam through PeopleCert; resit fees apply. Our training includes mock exams and preparation designed to build first-attempt readiness, and selected plans offer retake support. Ask an advisor about the options available.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PRINCE2 training?

The course covers the seven PRINCE2 principles, the People capability, the seven practices (Business Case, Organising, Plans, Quality, Risk, Issues and Progress) and the seven processes, plus tailoring and exam preparation for both levels.

What is new in PRINCE2 7 compared with PRINCE2 6?

PRINCE2 7 (2023) added the People capability as a core element covering leadership and stakeholder engagement, renamed Themes to Practices, incorporated commercial management, and integrated agile and sustainability considerations across the method.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No prior experience is required for PRINCE2 Foundation, so beginners and career changers can start. The Practitioner level is designed for those applying the method, and the course builds you up to it with practice and guided support.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive accredited PRINCE2 7 courseware, practice questions, full-length mock exams, chapter-wise quizzes and reference guides for navigating the PRINCE2 manual in the open-book Practitioner exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PRINCE2 syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PRINCE2 7 Foundation and Practitioner syllabus and the PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual, 7th Edition (2023), published by PeopleCert and AXELOS.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to enrol?

Anyone can enrol in the training. PRINCE2 Foundation has no formal prerequisites, and the Foundation certificate (or an accepted equivalent) is required to sit the Practitioner exam, which the combined pathway takes care of in sequence.

How do I enrol in the PRINCE2 course in Shanghai?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor to see upcoming batches.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training, self-paced e-learning, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include a pass to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange a change.
