    Assessment

    Is there an exam for this course?

    No. Minitab Essentials is a non-certification course with no exam. Your learning is reinforced through live, hands-on software exercises throughout the day, so you practise each technique as you go rather than sitting a test.

    Do I receive a certificate after the training?

    Yes. On completing the programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. This recognises attendance and the practical skills covered; it is not a formal external credential, as the course is skills training rather than a certification.

    How is the training assessed?

    There is no formal assessment. Instead, you work through hands-on exercises on realistic quality datasets during each module, which lets you apply and check your understanding of every technique while the instructor is there to help.

    Will this prepare me for Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt work?

    Yes. Minitab is the software behind the Measure and Analyse phases of Six Sigma DMAIC, so this training gives you the practical tool skills that Green Belt and Black Belt projects rely on. It is a strong companion to Lean Six Sigma training.

    Do the skills expire or need renewing?

    No. There is no credential to renew and nothing to maintain. The Minitab skills you build are immediately applicable to your quality and improvement work and stay useful for as long as you use the software.

    Course Content

    What topics does the Minitab course cover?

    The course covers six areas: the Minitab interface and data management, descriptive statistics and graphical analysis, hypothesis testing, statistical process control, process capability analysis, and regression with measurement system analysis (Gauge R&R). Every topic is taught with live software exercises.

    Can a complete beginner take this course?

    Yes. The course is designed for people who are new to Minitab or have only limited experience. Statistics are introduced as you use them in the software, and the instructor supports you through each exercise, so beginners can follow comfortably.

    Are the sessions hands-on?

    Yes. This is a practical, hands-on programme. You follow along in Minitab as the instructor demonstrates each function, working with realistic quality and process datasets so you build proficiency by doing rather than watching.

    What analyses and graphs will I be able to produce?

    You will be able to create histograms, boxplots, scatter and time series plots and Pareto charts; run t-tests, ANOVA and chi-square tests; build I-MR, Xbar-R, P and C control charts; produce Cp, Cpk and Ppk capability reports; and run regression and Gauge R&R studies.

    How long is the training?

    The programme runs for one day, totalling eight hours, and covers all six Minitab modules with hands-on exercises throughout. It can also be delivered as two half-days where that suits a team's schedule better.
