    What is the format of the PgMP exam?

    The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses single and multiple-answer questions across five program management performance domains.

    How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours (240 minutes). It is delivered online proctored via Pearson VUE OnVUE or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

    What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

    Five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Programme life cycle management carries the most weight on the exam.

    What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

    PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported per domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

    What is the PgMP panel review?

    The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. You must pass both the panel review and the written exam to earn the credential.

    What happens if I do not pass the exam?

    PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts, and our training includes preparation and revision support to help you approach each attempt with confidence.

    Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires either a secondary diploma with 48 months project and 84 months programme management experience, or a four-year degree with 48 months project and 48 months programme experience, within the past 15 years, plus a panel review.
