What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across five performance domains and is delivered online or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, including centres in Mumbai and across India.

What are the five PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The five domains are Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%). Program Life Cycle Management carries the largest share of the exam.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is mandatory in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score, and can I retake the exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage, with results reported by domain. You are allowed up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers all five performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus programme roadmapping, governance frameworks, benefits realisation, application guidance and exam strategy.

Which standard and edition is the course based on?

The course is aligned to the current PgMP Examination Content Outline and PMI's Standard for Program Management (Fourth Edition), the primary reference framework for the exam. Our courseware follows the 4th edition, so you study to the current standard.

Do I need PMP before taking PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the five domains, helping you identify weak areas and build readiness for the 170-question format.

Is prior experience needed to benefit from the training?

Yes. PgMP is a senior credential, so the training suits experienced professionals who already lead or coordinate related projects. The course consolidates that experience into programme-level governance, benefits and stakeholder capability for the exam and panel review.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PgMP exam?

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma you need four years of project management experience or PMP plus seven years of programme experience. With a four-year degree you need four years of each. A GAC-accredited degree reduces the thresholds. All within the past 15 years.
