Is PMP required before I can take PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

What if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 multiple-choice questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is closed book and delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

Five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. It is a mandatory step alongside the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score and does not publish a fixed percentage. Results are reported with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five performance domains.

Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application guidance, panel-review preparation and exam strategy.

Which standard and syllabus is the training aligned to?

The courseware is aligned to PMI's The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so your preparation matches what the exam actually tests.

Do I need prior experience to benefit from the course?

PgMP is a senior credential, so the training assumes programme delivery experience. Anyone can attend, but to sit the exam PMI requires substantial project and programme management experience under one of its three eligibility sets.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and scenario-based exercises mapped to the ECO, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across all five domains.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned, which support your preparation for the PMI application and exam.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PgMP exam?

PMI requires one of three sets: a secondary diploma with 48 months of project (or an active PMP) and 84 months of programme experience; or a bachelor's degree with 48 months of project (or PMP) and 48 months of programme experience; reduced further for a GAC-accredited degree. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.

What training formats are available?
