What Is Six Sigma Awareness Training?UntitledA Plain-English Introduction for Every Role

The Six Sigma Awareness Training in Jamaica is a one-day, non-certification course that introduces professionals to Six Sigma, the data-driven approach to reducing defects and variation in everyday business processes. In a single guided programme you learn what Six Sigma is, why organisations from manufacturing to BPO use it, and how the DMAIC method (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) drives measurable improvement. Designed for employees, supervisors, managers and leaders, the training builds a common improvement language so your whole team can contribute to and support Six Sigma projects, without needing to become a practising Green Belt or Black Belt. Rooted in the Six Sigma philosophy first developed at Motorola and made famous by its cross-industry results, the course covers key concepts such as defects, variation and Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO), the Six Sigma roles that make projects work, and how Lean Six Sigma combines speed with quality. You leave able to speak the language of improvement and add value from day one.

    For Organizations

Six Sigma Awareness Training helps organisations build a shared improvement culture from the ground up. Delivered to whole teams, it gives every employee the same vocabulary and understanding, so Six Sigma projects gain momentum and support across the business. It is the ideal first step when launching or scaling a Six Sigma or Lean Six Sigma programme, and it can be tailored for a site, department or leadership group.

For organisations in manufacturing, BPO, financial services and beyond, awareness training removes the biggest barrier to improvement: teams who do not yet share the language or understand the method. Train them together and projects move faster.

    • Create one shared improvement language across every level of the team
    • Prepare the workforce to support Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma projects
    • Reduce resistance to change by building understanding early
    • Standardise quality thinking across sites, departments and shifts
    • Deliver flexibly on-site, live online or in a blended format
    • Tailor examples to your sector, from BPO to food and beverage
    • Build internal momentum before investing in Belt-level training
    • Strengthen a right-first-time, data-driven culture

What Is Fuelling Demand for Six Sigma Skills in Jamaica

BPO Sector Moving up the Value Chain

As Jamaica's BPO industry shifts from cost arbitrage toward analytics-driven, higher-value services, employers want staff who understand quality, defects and process performance, not just call handling.

Six Sigma awareness builds a quality mindset

    Right-First-Time Pressure in Manufacturing

Food, beverage and consumer-goods manufacturers face tight margins and quality standards. Teams who grasp variation, defects and DMAIC help cut rework and protect brand and customer trust.

Learn how DMAIC reduces defects and waste

    Quality and Improvement Talent Shortage

Jamaica has a deep operational workforce but fewer people fluent in structured improvement. Awareness training widens the pool of staff ready to support quality and continuous improvement work.

Awareness training grows your talent pipeline

    Rising Customer Expectations in Services

Banking, insurance and telecoms customers expect fast, error-free service. Understanding Voice of the Customer and CTQ helps teams focus improvement on what customers actually value.

Six Sigma links quality to customer outcomes

    Cost and Efficiency Discipline

With cost pressure across sectors, organisations must do more with less. Lean Six Sigma thinking helps teams find and remove waste while keeping quality steady and predictable.

Learn to spot and remove process waste

    Fragmented Improvement Knowledge

Improvement stalls when only a few people understand the method. Training whole teams in Six Sigma basics creates a common vocabulary so projects gain support and momentum quickly.

One shared language across the whole team

Six Sigma awareness is a practical first step, not a badge on a wall. Give yourself or your team the shared language and improvement mindset Jamaican employers now expect. Start today.

The course covers six modules: the history, philosophy and business case for Six Sigma; key concepts and terminology; the DMAIC method; Six Sigma roles and organisational structure; an awareness-level introduction to core tools; and Lean Six Sigma in practice.

    What is the DMAIC method?

DMAIC stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve and Control. It is the structured, five-phase Six Sigma roadmap for improving an existing process, ensuring decisions are based on data rather than assumptions. You learn what each phase involves at an awareness level.

Will I learn about Six Sigma roles and tools?

Yes. You learn how Champions, Master Black Belts, Black Belts, Green Belts and Yellow Belts work together, and you gain awareness of tools such as SIPOC, fishbone diagrams, Pareto charts and control charts, and what each is used for.

How long is the training and what is the format?

The programme runs for one day, about 8 hours, and can also be arranged as two half-days. It is delivered live online, in the classroom, or on site for your organisation, and combines concept explanations with case studies and interactive exercises.
