What Is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner Course?UntitledMaster the People Side of Change

The Change Management Foundation and Practitioner (CM-F&P) certification is a globally recognised, two-level qualification that proves you can manage the people and culture side of organisational change. Foundation validates your knowledge of change concepts and models, while Practitioner proves you can apply them to real change scenarios. This Change Management certification training in New Zealand prepares you for both levels in one structured pathway. The qualification is built on the Change Management Body of Knowledge (CMBoK) maintained by the Change Management Institute, and the current Change Management Practitioner Guide. You will work with proven models including ADKAR, Kotter's 8-Step, Lewin's Three-Step, Bridges' Transition and the McKinsey 7-S framework, across five topic areas from individual change to professional practice. With New Zealand employers running record numbers of digital transformation, public sector reform and open banking programmes, certified change professionals are in strong demand across Auckland, Wellington and beyond. Start your change journey with Invensis Learning and move from study to certified with confidence.

Change Manager roles average around NZ$135,000, rising past NZ$167,000 for senior roles, so the credential offers a clear return.

What is the Change Management Foundation and Practitioner certification?

Do I need prerequisites to start the training?

Is the credential recognised in New Zealand?

Yes. The Change Management qualification is recognised in over 150 countries and is well respected across New Zealand, Australia, the UK and other markets where organisational change is a recognised profession.

    Exam

How many exams are in the combined programme?

There are two separate exams. The Foundation exam has 50 questions in 40 minutes, closed book, with a 50% pass mark (25 out of 50). The Practitioner exam has 5 scenario-based sections worth 80 marks in 2.5 hours, open book, with a 50% pass mark (40 out of 80). Both must be passed to hold both credentials.

What is the format of the Foundation exam?

The Foundation exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice test of 50 single-answer questions to be completed in 40 minutes. The pass mark is 50%, meaning 25 correct answers out of 50, and it is usually taken at the end of Foundation training.

What is the format of the Practitioner exam?

The Practitioner exam is open book and scenario-based, with 5 sections each worth 16 marks for a total of 80 marks, completed in 2.5 hours. The pass mark is 50%, meaning 40 out of 80 marks. The Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the exam.

What does open book mean for the Practitioner exam?

It means the Change Management Practitioner Guide is permitted during the exam. However, the scenario-based sections require analysis and judgment, so you cannot simply look up answers. Efficient guide navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What happens if I do not pass an exam first time?

You can resit the exam. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to prepare you thoroughly for both levels. Confirm the current resit fee and voucher policy with a learning advisor before booking.
