Yes. The CSM is the credential Auckland employers list most often for Scrum Master roles, and Scrum Masters in the city earn around NZ$120,000 on average, rising higher for senior and coaching roles. As banks, SaaS firms and public-sector teams scale agile delivery, certified Scrum Masters are in strong demand.

What is the Certified ScrumMaster certification?

Certified ScrumMaster, known as CSM, is Scrum Alliance's entry-level Scrum Master certification. It validates your understanding of the Scrum framework, the Scrum Master role, and the values that make Scrum teams effective, and it is the most widely recognised Scrum Master credential worldwide.

Who should take the CSM course?

The CSM suits aspiring Scrum Masters, developers, testers, business analysts and project managers moving into agile delivery. There is no formal education or work experience requirement, so it works for those new to Scrum and for people formalising existing Scrum knowledge.

Which standard is the CSM course based on?

The course is aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. It also draws on the Agile Manifesto and its twelve principles.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle. SEUs can be earned through courses, conferences, coaching and self-study.

    What comes after the CSM?

The next step in the Scrum Alliance Scrum Master track is the Advanced Certified ScrumMaster (A-CSM), covering advanced facilitation, coaching and stakeholder engagement. The CSM is the mandatory prerequisite, and A-CSM also requires time working in a Scrum Master role.

    Pricing

What is included in the CSM course fee?

The fee typically includes Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, Certified Scrum Trainer led sessions, case studies, practice questions, and guidance to pass the online CSM exam. Passing the exam also includes a two-year Scrum Alliance membership. Request a quote for the current inclusions.

How much does CSM training cost in Auckland?

CSM training price varies by delivery format and schedule, so it is available on request. The exam is usually taken through the Scrum Alliance portal after course completion. Talk to a learning advisor for current Auckland pricing and upcoming batches.

Is the CSM exam fee included in the training price?

For CSM, the online exam is delivered through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course, and the exam is typically covered within the course fee paid to the training provider. Confirm the exact inclusions when you request a quote.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing for CSM training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for squads, tribes and delivery teams across Auckland. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What if I do not pass the CSM exam first time?

You have up to three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course, so a first-time miss is not the end. Our trainers and practice materials are built to prepare you thoroughly for the open-book format so you feel ready on exam day.

How many questions are on the CSM exam and how long is it?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a 60-minute time limit. It is open book and taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74%, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The exam tests knowledge and comprehension of the Scrum framework across the CSM Learning Objectives.

Do I have to attend a course to sit the CSM exam?

Yes. Attendance at a Scrum Alliance approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer is mandatory. The online exam cannot be accessed until you complete the course, and you then have 90 days to sit it.

Is the CSM exam open or closed book?

The CSM exam is open book, so you can refer to materials during the online assessment. It is taken through the Scrum Alliance portal without a proctor after course completion.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the CSM course?

You will learn the Scrum framework end to end: Scrum theory and the three pillars, the five Scrum values, the Scrum Team and its accountabilities, all five Scrum events, the three artefacts and their commitments, and the servant-leadership practices of the Scrum Master role.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No prior experience is required. The CSM has no formal education or work experience prerequisite, and the course is beginner friendly while still valuable for those already working in Scrum teams who want to formalise their knowledge.
