    General

Is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification worth it in Wellington?

Yes. PRINCE2 Practitioner is widely expected across Wellington's government agencies, IT firms and infrastructure programmes, where controlled, accountable delivery is a core requirement. Senior project roles in the city average around NZ$139,000 a year, and certified project leaders are consistently in demand as the public sector governs a large technology spend.

What is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification?

PRINCE2 Practitioner is the advanced credential in the PRINCE2 scheme, validating your ability to apply and tailor PRINCE2 principles, practices and processes to real project scenarios. It is owned by AXELOS and awarded by PeopleCert, and it is aligned to the current PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023).

Who should take PRINCE2 Practitioner training?

It is designed for practising and aspiring project managers, PRINCE2 Foundation holders, and PMP or CAPM professionals who want the advanced PRINCE2 credential. It suits anyone leading or governing projects in Wellington's public sector, technology, financial services or infrastructure programmes.

What are the prerequisites for PRINCE2 Practitioner?

You need PRINCE2 Foundation certification, or an accepted equivalent such as PMP, CAPM, IPMA Level A to D, or PRINCE2 Agile Foundation. There is no formal work experience requirement, though the credential is aimed at practising and aspiring project managers.

How long is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification valid?

PRINCE2 Practitioner is valid for three years. You renew it by retaking and passing the Practitioner exam, by completing continuing professional development through a PeopleCert MyAxelos subscription, or by passing a higher-level PRINCE2 qualification.

    Pricing

How much does PRINCE2 Practitioner training cost in Wellington?

Training fees vary by format and schedule, so we quote them on request in New Zealand dollars. The exam fee is billed separately by PeopleCert and depends on region and channel. Request a quote and a learning advisor will share the current pricing for your chosen format.

What is included in the PRINCE2 Practitioner course fee?

The fee typically includes PeopleCert-aligned courseware, scenario-based practice, open-book exam technique, chapter quizzes, learner support and a course completion certificate. Confirm exam voucher inclusion with your advisor when you enrol.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

The PRINCE2 Practitioner exam is delivered by PeopleCert and its fee can be bundled with training or purchased separately, depending on the package. Pricing varies by region and channel, so ask your advisor to confirm what your quote covers.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, delivery teams and departments in Wellington and across New Zealand. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

It is an open-book, scenario-based examination. The Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted, and questions require analysis and judgement rather than simple recall. Questions use multiple-choice, matching, sequence and assertion-reason formats.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, and you have 150 minutes to complete it. It is delivered online through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring, available around the clock, or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for PRINCE2 Practitioner?

The pass mark is 60 percent, which means you need at least 42 out of 70 marks. Because the exam is scenario-based, broad, applied mastery of the method matters more than memorising isolated facts.

What does open book mean for this exam?

You may use the PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects (7th Edition) manual during the exam. However, questions require you to analyse a scenario and apply judgement, so efficient manual navigation and deep method knowledge are both essential.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can resit the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam. Our training builds readiness through scenario practice and open-book technique to help you pass, and we can advise on rebooking through PeopleCert. Confirm the current resit policy at the time of your exam.

    Course Content

What topics does the PRINCE2 Practitioner course cover?

The course covers the nine PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus areas: the principles, practices and processes, key roles and responsibilities, people management, sustainability and ESG, digital and data management, effective communication, and tailoring the method to your needs.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

You should hold PRINCE2 Foundation, or an accepted equivalent, before attending Practitioner training, as it builds on that knowledge. Beyond that, the trainer supports you with scenario practice, so practising and aspiring project managers can follow along comfortably.

Which edition of PRINCE2 is the training based on?

Training is aligned to the current PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) and the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus, built around the Managing Successful Projects manual. Version 7 introduced the people capability, renamed themes to practices, and added sustainability and digital content.

Are practice questions and mock scenarios included?

Yes. The programme includes scenario-based practice, chapter quizzes and open-book exam technique so you can rehearse the way the Practitioner exam actually works and identify areas to strengthen before exam day.

Will I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate. Passing the PeopleCert exam separately then awards you the official PRINCE2 Practitioner certification and digital badge, valid for three years.
