What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO). It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions across four construction project management domains and is delivered online proctored or at a Pearson VUE test center.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book, and results are reported with domain-level performance feedback rather than a fixed numeric score.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains per the ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting the central role of contracts in construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules for PMI-CP?

Before applying, all candidates must complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs total that also count toward renewal.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP format, along with topic-wise quizzes, to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PMI-CP ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you prepare against the four domains and weightings PMI tests today.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

You can join the training at any stage, but the PMI-CP credential itself requires construction project management experience to apply. The course helps you build knowledge across all four domains and prepare your experience documentation for the PMI application.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete the four prerequisite modules plus one of three sets: Set A, high school diploma with 60 months construction PM experience; Set B, bachelor's degree with 36 months; or Set C, a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets need 35 contact hours of PM education, within the past 10 years.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led program provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours PMI requires across all eligibility sets. Check with our advisors whether supplementary self-study or pre-reading is credited toward the 35-hour requirement for your application.
