    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO). It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions across four construction project management domains and is delivered online proctored or at a Pearson VUE test center.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book, and results are reported with domain-level performance feedback rather than a fixed numeric score.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains per the ECO: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting the central role of contracts in construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam the first time?

You are allowed up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility window from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to later attempts and are billed by PMI. Our practice questions and mock exams are designed to build your readiness before you sit.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can take the PMI-CP exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test center. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or Pearson VUE within your eligibility period.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-CP training?

The training covers all four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), plus guidance on the four prerequisite modules, the PMI application and exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules for PMI-CP?

Before applying, all candidates must complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs total that also count toward renewal.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute PMI-CP format, along with topic-wise quizzes, to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PMI-CP ECO?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, so you prepare against the four domains and weightings PMI tests today.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

You can join the training at any stage, but the PMI-CP credential itself requires construction project management experience to apply. The course helps you build knowledge across all four domains and prepare your experience documentation for the PMI application.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete the four prerequisite modules plus one of three sets: Set A, high school diploma with 60 months construction PM experience; Set B, bachelor's degree with 36 months; or Set C, a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets need 35 contact hours of PM education, within the past 10 years.
