What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, computer-based, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and what is the duration?

The exam has 170 questions and you have four hours (240 minutes) to complete it. In addition to the written exam, PfMP candidates must pass a subject-matter-expert panel review of their documented portfolio experience.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%). The training covers all five in line with the current PfMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five performance domains.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

Are there practice tests, mock exams or assignments included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PfMP standard?

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PfMP exam?

PMI requires either a secondary diploma with 84 months of portfolio management experience, or a four-year degree with 48 months, in each case alongside 120 months of business experience within the last 15 years, plus a panel review. Anyone can enroll in the training itself.
