What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) time limit. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center.

What are the PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Five domains: Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), per the current PfMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam?

You may take up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep resources and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass with confidence.

What are the eligibility requirements to sit the PfMP exam?

Anyone can enroll in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires a secondary or bachelor's degree, 120 months of professional business experience within the last 15 years, portfolio management experience (36 to 84 months by education level), and a panel review.
