What You Gain from Design for Six Sigma Training in ZambiaQuality by Design, from the Start

Design for Six Sigma Training in Zambia introduces the Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology and the DMADV roadmap, a proactive approach to designing new products, services and processes that meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the very start. Rather than fixing defects after launch, you learn to engineer quality in from day one. Over a focused one-day (eight-hour) programme you work through the five DMADV phases, Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify, and apply the tools that make them work: Voice of the Customer (VOC) and Kano analysis, Quality Function Deployment (QFD), the Pugh concept-selection matrix, Design FMEA (DFMEA), robust design and design verification. Hands-on exercises use realistic design scenarios so you can put each tool to work immediately. The course suits design and process engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers and Six Sigma practitioners in Zambia's mining, manufacturing and FMCG sectors who want to reduce redesign, cut warranty costs and shorten time to market. This is a practical skills programme with no examination; you leave able to apply DFSS on live projects. Start building design-quality capability with Invensis Learning.

The Design-Quality Skills You Will BuildAcross the DMADV Roadmap

This programme builds practical DFSS capability you can apply straight away. By the end you can take a new product or process from customer needs through concept, robust design and verification, using the DMADV roadmap and its core tools.

    Apply the DMADV Roadmap

In this DFSS training you will learn to run a new design project through the five DMADV phases, Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify, and know when to use DFSS instead of DMAIC to design quality in rather than improve it later.

Capture the Voice of the Customer

Gather and analyse Voice of the Customer (VOC) data, then classify needs with the Kano model into must-be, performance and delighter requirements so design effort goes where it matters most.

Translate Needs into CTQs with QFD

Turn customer requirements into measurable Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics using CTQ flow-down and build a Quality Function Deployment (QFD) House of Quality that links what customers want to engineering targets.

Select the Best Concept with the Pugh Matrix

Generate multiple design concepts and compare them objectively against CTQ-based criteria using the Pugh selection matrix, replacing loudest-voice decisions with a transparent, documented choice.

    Reduce Design Risk with DFMEA

Run a Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), score failure modes by severity, occurrence and detection, prioritise by RPN, and drive corrective design actions before failures reach production.

    Build Robust, Verified Designs

Apply robust design and the P-diagram to make designs insensitive to variation, then plan design verification and validation, use a design scorecard, and manage the transfer of a proven design to production.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma training and who is it for?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a practical, one-day course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to meet customer needs and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the start. It uses the DMADV roadmap and tools such as VOC, QFD, DFMEA and robust design. It suits design and process engineers, R&D professionals, quality engineers and Six Sigma practitioners.

Is Design for Six Sigma training worth it?

Yes. DFSS skills help you prevent defects by design rather than fixing them after launch, which reduces rework, warranty costs and redesign. In Zambia, where employers are building new products and production lines, professionals who can design quality in are in growing demand across mining, manufacturing and FMCG.

How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) improves existing processes that are underperforming. DFSS, using the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify), designs new products and processes correctly from the start. This course covers DFSS/DMADV, the design counterpart to DMAIC. Organisations typically use both.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma concepts such as CTQ and variation is helpful but not required, as the course introduces all DFSS tools and the DMADV methodology from first principles.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and instalment options may be available on selected plans. Talk to a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this course?

No. Design for Six Sigma training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on tool exercises, case-study examples and team discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

You receive a Course Completion Certificate from Invensis Learning after completing the programme. No formal certification or credential is awarded by an external body, as none exists for this training. The value is in the practical, immediately applicable skills you build.

How am I assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply DFSS tools such as VOC to CTQ flow-down, a QFD House of Quality, the Pugh matrix and a DFMEA worksheet to realistic design scenarios throughout the day, so you practise each tool as you learn it.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to apply the DMADV roadmap to a new design project, capture and analyse VOC, translate needs into measurable CTQs, build a QFD House of Quality, select concepts with the Pugh matrix, run a DFMEA, apply robust design, and plan design verification and validation.

What is the next step after this course?

DFSS training complements Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt training and Minitab Essentials training for the statistical analysis and DOE used within DFSS projects, all available through Invensis Learning. Ask a learning advisor about the right next step for your goals.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the training?

The course covers DFSS foundations and the DMADV roadmap; the Define phase (project charter, VOC, Kano); the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down, QFD); the Analyse phase (concept generation, Pugh matrix, DFMEA); the Design phase (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA); and the Verify phase (design verification, validation, design scorecard and transfer).

    What is the DMADV roadmap?

DMADV stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. It is the most widely used DFSS framework and guides you from defining customer requirements, through translating them into measurable CTQs, analysing and selecting concepts, creating a robust design, and verifying it meets all requirements before launch.

How long is the training and what format is it?

The programme runs for one day (eight hours) and can also be delivered as two half-days. It is instructor-led and available in live online, classroom and corporate onsite formats, with hands-on tool exercises throughout.

Are the exercises hands-on and practical?

Yes. You work through realistic product and process design scenarios, applying VOC to CTQ flow-down, a QFD House of Quality, the Pugh concept-selection matrix and a DFMEA worksheet, so you leave able to use the tools on your own projects.

Is the course suitable for a beginner?

Yes. The course introduces every DFSS tool and the DMADV methodology from first principles, so beginners can follow along, while professionals who already know DMAIC gain its design counterpart. No prior DFSS experience is needed.
