PMI-ACP Requirements: Agile Certified Practitioner prerequisites

If you are seeking to earn a PMI ACP Certification, you have to know the PMI ACP requirements. Not everyone can apply for the exam since it has a pre-defined level of complexity. PMI credentials not only test not only your concept about agile practices but also your ability to apply them to projects.

PMI ACP Eligibility Requirements are holistically designed to ensure your educational background is coupled with project management experience and training on agile practices. So what are the PMI ACP eligibility requirements that you need to address? When it comes to PMI-ACP certification, there are eligibility criteria you need to pass. PMI-ACP Requirements can be summarised below as follows:

  • Academic Education: Having a Secondary Degree (a high school diploma, associate's degree, or global equivalent) qualifies you to take the PMI-ACP exam. Provide the details of your academic qualification i.e., the institution name, graduation year and the undergraduate major you took.
  • General Project Experience: You are required to have 2,000 hours of general project experience, earned over the last five (5) years. In addition, you must be a part of a project group(s) documented and summarized.
  • Agile Project Experience: A total of 1,500 hours of Agile experience hours must be earned over the last three (3) years. In addition, you must be a part of a project group(s) documented and summarized.
  • Training in Agile Practices: Provide 21 contact hours of Agile Project Management Education, inclusive of topics covering agile philosophy, methodologies, principles and practices.

Approval and Eligibility Period

PMI will review your application within 24 hours after submitting it and respond accordingly. Once they approve the application, they’ll proceed to send you an invitation to pay for and schedule the exam. You will then have one year to take the exam after approval of your application and are eligible to retake the exam up to three (3) times during the eligibility period.
