    Do I need project management experience to start?

    Is there an exam for Microsoft Project training?

    No. Microsoft Project training is a non-certification skills course, so there is no exam at either level. Learning is reinforced through hands-on exercises in Microsoft Project using realistic project scenarios throughout the programme.

    How is learning assessed during the course?

    Learning is assessed informally through live, hands-on exercises rather than a test. You follow the trainer in Microsoft Project, complete practical tasks on realistic scenarios, and build proficiency by doing the work during the sessions.

    What will I be able to do after the Fundamentals level?

    After Fundamentals you can create a project file, configure the calendar, build a task list with summary tasks and milestones, link tasks with dependencies, identify the critical path, assign resources, set a baseline, track progress and generate built-in reports.

    What will I be able to do after the Advanced level?

    After Advanced you can apply task types correctly, connect a shared resource pool, run resource levelling, calculate Earned Value metrics, build custom fields, views and reports, and manage master projects with cross-project dependencies for programme reporting.

    Do I receive proof of completion?

    Yes. You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning once you complete the training. It recognises the practical Microsoft Project skills you have built, which you can apply at work immediately.

    Course Content

    What topics does the Fundamentals level cover?

    Fundamentals (2 days, 16 hours) covers the Microsoft Project interface, project setup and calendars, the work breakdown structure, task durations and milestones, dependencies and the critical path, work, material and cost resources, baselines, progress tracking and built-in reporting.

    What topics does the Advanced level cover?

    Advanced (3 days, 24 hours) covers advanced scheduling and task types, resource pools and levelling, cost management and Earned Value, custom fields, views, tables and reports, master projects and cross-project links, and what-if scenario planning and project closure.

    How long is each level?

    Fundamentals is delivered over 2 days (16 hours total) and Advanced over 3 days (24 hours total). Both are available as full-day sessions or extended half-day formats. You can attend either level on its own or both in sequence.

    Which frameworks does the training relate to?

    Microsoft Project is the tool used to apply methodologies such as the PMI PMBOK Guide and PRINCE2, along with Critical Path Method and Earned Value Management. The training focuses on the software skills that put these planning and control principles into practice.
