    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the January 2022 ECO. It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center, with single-answer and multiple-answer questions across five risk domains.

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam?

The exam has 115 questions and a total time of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). Results are reported with domain-level performance feedback rather than a single published percentage.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and weights?

There are five domains per the 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing standard and does not publish a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with performance feedback per domain, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the first time, can I retake it?

Yes. PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our training includes practice questions and mock exams so you go in prepared, and re-examination fees apply to later attempts. Confirm current amounts at pmi.org.
