What Is Design for Six Sigma Training?UntitledBuild Quality in from Day One

The Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Training is a one-day, practitioner-led course that teaches you how to design new products, services and processes to meet customer requirements and reach Six Sigma quality levels from the very start, rather than fixing defects after they appear. Delivered by Invensis Learning across the Slovak Republic, the training is built around the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify) and the core DFSS toolkit. You learn to capture the Voice of the Customer and classify needs with the Kano model, translate them into measurable CTQs, build a Quality Function Deployment House of Quality, compare concepts with the Pugh matrix, run a Design FMEA with RPN prioritisation, and apply robust design so performance holds up despite real-world variation. The course suits design and R&D engineers, quality engineers, new product development managers, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts who want the design counterpart to DMAIC. In a market where automotive, electronics and precision engineering set the pace, designing first-time quality is a daily expectation. This is hands-on skills training focused on capability, not credentials; you finish with a course completion record from Invensis Learning and tools you can apply to your next design project.

Why Design-Quality Skills Are in Demand Across Slovak Industry

    Cost of Late Design Changes

In high-volume automotive and electronics production, a defect caught after launch can cost far more than one designed out early. DMADV moves quality upstream, exactly where Slovak manufacturers need it.

DFSS designs quality in from the start

    EV Transition Design Load

New electric powertrains, batteries and platforms mean entirely new products to design correctly first time. Robust design and DFMEA help teams manage that shift without a wave of field failures.

DFSS builds robust design and verification skills

    APQP and IATF 16949 Pressure

OEM customers require Design FMEA, robust design and structured verification as part of APQP. Suppliers who cannot deliver these design deliverables lose work, making DFSS skills a competitive need.

DFSS strengthens DFMEA and design controls

    Design-Quality Talent Scarcity

The Slovak Republic has a deep pool of project and DMAIC talent but far fewer engineers fluent in designing quality in. DMADV and DFSS tools make trained professionals genuinely scarce and sought-after.

DFSS makes design-quality engineers stand out

    Warranty and Rework Erosion

Margin pressure across manufacturing pushes firms to cut the warranty, scrap and rework that flow from weak design. DFSS gives teams the tools to prevent those costs at the design stage.

    DFSS builds first-time-right design capability

Design for Six Sigma is more than a method. It is how Slovak manufacturers stop paying for defects they could have designed out. Build the skills to design first-time quality into new products and processes. Start your DFSS journey today.

    Your Slovak Republic Design-Quality Shift

From Fixing Defects to Designing Them Out

    The Shift DFSS Training Delivers

The Slovak Republic's manufacturing base is designing more new products than ever, from electric vehicles to precision components, and employers increasingly separate engineers who can design quality in from those who only fix it later. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    Today

Confident in DMAIC improvement but not in new-design methodology

    After DFSS

Fluent in DMADV, the design counterpart to DMAIC that employers now expect

    Today

Overlooked for design-quality roles that list DFSS tools

    After DFSS

Ready for design, R&D and quality roles across Slovak industry

    Today

Limited to reacting to defects on existing products

    After DFSS

Able to lead first-time-right design on new products and processes

    You Learn DFSS

    Before

You fix quality problems after they appear, late and at high cost

    Now you have

You design quality in from the start using the DMADV roadmap

    Before

Customer needs get lost between marketing and engineering

    Now you have

You flow the Voice of the Customer down to measurable CTQs with QFD

    Before

Design risks surface late, in testing or out in the field

    Now you have

You catch and rank design risks early with a structured Design FMEA

    Before

Designs are sensitive to manufacturing, environment and usage variation

    Now you have

You apply robust design so performance stays on target under variation

"The gap between improving existing processes and designing new ones right the first time is a recognised skill set, and the manufacturers that matter already know it."

Join 50,000+ professionals who trained with Invensis Learning and built new capability.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a one-day, practitioner-led course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to reach Six Sigma quality levels from the start. It is designed for design and R&D engineers, quality engineers, new product development managers, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts.

    General

What is Design for Six Sigma training and who is it for?

Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) training is a one-day, practitioner-led course that teaches you to design new products, services and processes to reach Six Sigma quality levels from the start. It is designed for design and R&D engineers, quality engineers, new product development managers, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belts.

How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products, services and processes so they meet requirements from the outset. DFSS uses the DMADV roadmap (Define, Measure, Analyse, Design, Verify). Organisations use both: DMAIC to improve what exists, DFSS to design what is new.

Is DFSS training worth it for professionals in the Slovak Republic?

Yes. The Slovak Republic is the world's leading car producer per capita, and automotive, electronics and engineering employers need engineers who can design first-time quality into new products. DFSS skills such as QFD, Design FMEA and robust design are directly relevant to that work and are relatively scarce.

Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with basic Six Sigma ideas such as CTQ and variation is helpful, but the course introduces every DFSS tool and the DMADV methodology from first principles, so newcomers and experienced practitioners both benefit.

What methodology does the course follow?

The course is built around DMADV, the most widely used DFSS roadmap, and the core DFSS toolkit: Voice of the Customer and the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA, robust design and design verification.

    Pricing

How much does Design for Six Sigma training cost in the Slovak Republic?

Fees vary by delivery format and group size, so pricing is available on request. Corporate and group rates apply for teams. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote for the Slovak Republic.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically covers instructor-led delivery of all six DFSS modules, structured courseware, hands-on tool exercises on realistic scenarios, learner support, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Request a quote to confirm the inclusions for your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate rates?

In which currency is training priced?

Training for the Slovak Republic is quoted in euros (EUR). Final pricing depends on the delivery format, whether it is a public or corporate session, and the number of participants. Ask a learning advisor for current figures.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with invoicing available for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to arrange the option that suits you or your organisation.

    Assessment

Is there an assessment at the end of the course?

No. This is a practical skills course with no formal test. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, worked case examples and team discussion during the one-day programme, so you leave able to apply the tools rather than sit an assessment.

What will I receive on completing the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. It recognises that you have completed the Design for Six Sigma programme and built practical DMADV and DFSS tool skills you can apply to new product and process design.

Will I be able to apply DFSS at work straight away?

Yes. By the end of the day you can apply the DMADV roadmap, capture VOC, build a QFD House of Quality, run a Design FMEA, use the Pugh matrix, and plan design verification. The tools are immediately usable on live design projects.

How is the training delivered and how long is it?

The course runs as a one-day, eight-hour programme covering all six DMADV phases with tool exercises throughout. It is available in live virtual, classroom and corporate on-site formats across the Slovak Republic.

Does the course include hands-on practice?

Yes. Practical exercises run throughout the day. You apply VOC to CTQ flow-down, build a QFD House of Quality, work a Pugh concept selection matrix and complete a Design FMEA worksheet, all on realistic product or process design scenarios.

    Course Content

What topics does the DFSS training cover?

The training covers six modules: DFSS foundations and the DMADV roadmap; the Define phase (VOC and Kano); the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down and QFD); the Analyse phase (concept selection and Design FMEA); the Design phase (robust design and DFMA); and the Verify phase (verification, validation and design transfer).

What tools will I learn to use?

You will learn the Voice of the Customer and Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment (the House of Quality), the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA with RPN, the P-diagram and robust design, and design verification and validation methods.

Does the course cover robust design and Design FMEA in detail?

Yes. The Analyse phase covers Design FMEA structure, RPN scoring and prioritisation, and the Design phase covers robust design, the P-diagram, Taguchi thinking at awareness level, tolerancing and Design for Manufacturability and Assembly.

Is the course relevant to services and software, not just manufacturing?

Yes. While DFSS is strongest in product and process design, the DMADV method, VOC, CTQ flow-down and QFD apply to designing new services and software features too. The exercises can be framed around the kind of design work you do.

How does this course complement other Six Sigma training?

DFSS is the design counterpart to DMAIC, so it pairs well with Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt training, and with Minitab Essentials for the statistical and DOE work within DFSS projects. Green and Black Belts often need DFSS when a root cause requires a redesign.
