What Is Quality Function Deployment Training?UntitledCustomer-Driven Design Made Practical

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a structured, customer-driven method that translates the Voice of the Customer into clear engineering and process characteristics at every stage of product and service development. This Quality Function Deployment training in Romania teaches you to build and read the House of Quality, the visual planning matrix at the heart of the method. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno and first applied at Mitsubishi's Kobe shipyard, QFD is now standard practice in automotive, electronics, medical devices and service design. Across Romania's manufacturing and R&D base, employers value professionals who can connect customer needs to design decisions rather than rely on intuition. Over one intensive day you work through the full four-phase QFD system, from product planning to production, and apply the method within Design for Six Sigma and DMAIC projects. This is a practical, non-certification course; on completion you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning and skills you can use immediately.

What Is Driving Demand for QFD Skills in Romania

    Automotive Complexity at Scale

Romania's automotive plants and Tier 1 suppliers run vast product programmes. Translating customer and OEM requirements into robust design demands a structured method like QFD.

    QFD builds customer-to-design traceability

    From Assembly to In-Country Design

R&D centres for Renault, Continental, Bosch and Schaeffler now design rather than just build. Engineers need tools to turn customer needs into measurable engineering targets.

    QFD builds engineering-target skills

    Requirement Traceability Pressure

IATF 16949 and APQP expect a clear line from customer requirement to production control. The four-phase QFD cascade provides exactly that documented audit trail.

QFD supports APQP and IATF 16949

    Costly Late Design Changes

Design conflicts found during prototyping inflate cost and delay launch. The House of Quality roof exposes trade-offs early, before they become expensive to fix.

    QFD surfaces trade-offs early

    Structured-Method Skills Gap

Romania has deep engineering talent but fewer practitioners fluent in customer-driven design tools. QFD skills help professionals and teams differentiate themselves.

    QFD makes practitioners stand out

    Regulated and Medical Product Design

Medical device and pharmaceutical makers must design to strict patient and regulatory needs. QFD connects those requirements to critical quality attributes and controls.

QFD links needs to quality attributes

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and process characteristics. Its central tool is the House of Quality, a planning matrix that links what customers want to how a product or service will deliver it.

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and process characteristics. Its central tool is the House of Quality, a planning matrix that links what customers want to how a product or service will deliver it.

The course suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belt practitioners. It is ideal for anyone in Romania's automotive, electronics, medical device or product teams who translates customer needs into design.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with product development or quality management helps, but the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles, so beginners and experienced engineers alike can benefit.

Yes. Although QFD began in manufacturing, the same method applies to healthcare, financial services, IT and software design. Any context where customer requirements must become design or delivery specifications benefits from the House of Quality.

Romania's automotive, electronics and R&D employers increasingly design products locally, not just assemble them. QFD gives their teams a disciplined way to connect customer requirements to design, which reduces rework and improves customer satisfaction.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD)?

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and process characteristics. Its central tool is the House of Quality, a planning matrix that links what customers want to how a product or service will deliver it.

Who should attend QFD training in Romania?

The course suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, R&D professionals, and Six Sigma Green and Black Belt practitioners. It is ideal for anyone in Romania's automotive, electronics, medical device or product teams who translates customer needs into design.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with product development or quality management helps, but the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles, so beginners and experienced engineers alike can benefit.

Is QFD useful for services as well as manufacturing?

Yes. Although QFD began in manufacturing, the same method applies to healthcare, financial services, IT and software design. Any context where customer requirements must become design or delivery specifications benefits from the House of Quality.

Why does QFD matter for Romanian employers?

Romania's automotive, electronics and R&D employers increasingly design products locally, not just assemble them. QFD gives their teams a disciplined way to connect customer requirements to design, which reduces rework and improves customer satisfaction.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Romania?

Fees vary by delivery format (live virtual, classroom or corporate), group size and schedule, so pricing is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a current quote tailored to your needs, and ask about corporate rates for teams.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, hands-on House of Quality exercises, course materials and templates, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Corporate sessions can add content tailored to your own product.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer volume-based corporate pricing for teams and departments, with tailored schedules and content. It is a cost-effective way to upskill a whole product or quality team together. Request a group quote for your organisation.

Are there any additional or hidden fees?

No. Because this is a non-certification course, there is no separate exam or membership fee. The training fee covers the programme and its materials. Confirm exactly what is included when you request your quote.

How can I pay for the training?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and can arrange invoicing for corporate bookings. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you and to see upcoming batches.

    Assessment

Is there an exam at the end of the course?

No. QFD training has no exam. Learning is reinforced through practical House of Quality construction exercises, Voice of the Customer and Kano activities, and team discussion throughout the one-day programme.

What will I receive on completion?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning confirming you have completed the Quality Function Deployment programme. It recognises the practical skills you have built rather than a formal external qualification.

How is learning assessed during the training?

There is no formal assessment. Instead you build and interpret a real House of Quality during the session, apply the Kano model, and calculate design priorities, so you practise the method rather than sit a test.

Will I be able to apply QFD straight away?

Yes. By the end you can capture the Voice of the Customer, build a full House of Quality, prioritise engineering characteristics, and cascade requirements through the four QFD phases, ready to use on your next project.

Does QFD support Six Sigma work?

Yes. QFD is a core tool in Design for Six Sigma (the DMADV Measure phase) and the DMAIC Define phase. The course shows how to use it to translate customer needs into critical-to-quality characteristics within improvement and design projects.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The programme covers QFD foundations, Voice of the Customer capture, building the House of Quality (all six rooms), interpreting the matrix, cascading QFD through four phases, and applying QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design, with hands-on exercises throughout.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD matrix. It links customer requirements to engineering characteristics, rates the strength of each relationship, benchmarks against competitors, maps design conflicts in the roof, and sets measurable engineering targets.

What are the four phases of QFD?

The four-phase QFD system cascades customer requirements through Product Planning (the House of Quality), Parts Deployment, Process Planning and Production Planning, creating a traceable link from the customer need all the way to production controls.

    Is the training hands-on?

Very. You build a House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario, structure the Voice of the Customer with an affinity diagram, classify needs with the Kano model, and calculate design priorities as a team.

How long is the course and how is it delivered?

The course runs for one intensive day (eight hours), covering all six modules. It is available as live virtual, in-person classroom and corporate on-site training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the QFD course?

Choose your preferred format on the Invensis Learning website or speak with a learning advisor, complete your booking, and you will receive joining details, schedules and course materials. Contact us to see upcoming batches in Romania.

    What delivery formats are available?

You can join online (live virtual instructor-led) sessions, attend in-person classroom training, or arrange corporate on-site delivery for your team. Each format covers the same practical QFD curriculum and hands-on exercises.

Can the course be delivered for my team on site?

Yes. We deliver on-site and live virtual corporate training across Romania, tailored to your sector and, where you wish, built around one of your own products so the House of Quality your team creates is immediately useful.

    When can I start?

New live virtual and classroom sessions run regularly, and corporate dates are arranged around your team's availability. Talk to a learning advisor to find the next suitable batch and reserve your place.

What is your reschedule or cancellation policy?

Bookings can be rescheduled or transferred to another batch under our published policy. Reach out to our support team and they will help you find an alternative date that works for you.
