Jira is a web-based platform from Atlassian used to plan, track, release and report on work. Teams use it for Scrum and Kanban boards, sprints, backlogs, roadmaps, workflows and Agile reporting across software and business delivery.

Should I take the Fundamentals or Advanced level?

Take Fundamentals (2 days) if you are new to Jira or use it occasionally. Take Advanced (3 days) if you already use Jira and want to master workflows, schemes, automation, JQL, dashboards and administration. You can attend either independently or both in sequence.

Do I need to buy Jira software separately?

You need access to a Jira environment for the hands-on exercises. Jira Cloud offers a free tier for up to 10 users, and larger teams may use paid Jira Cloud or Data Center. Check with us whether a shared training environment is provided.

Assessment

How is learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal test. Learning is reinforced through hands-on Jira exercises and configuration activities throughout the course, so you build real proficiency by doing rather than by sitting an assessment.

What do I receive on completing the course?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning confirming you completed the Fundamentals or Advanced programme, along with practical Jira skills you can apply at work immediately.

Do I need prior Jira experience to join?

For Fundamentals, no prior Jira experience is needed; basic familiarity with web applications is enough. For Advanced, you should have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on Jira experience.

Will I be able to use Jira confidently afterwards?

Yes. The course is built around live, hands-on practice in Jira, so you finish able to create projects, run boards and sprints, write JQL and, at Advanced level, configure workflows, automation and administration.

Is the training based on the current version of Jira?

Yes. The training reflects current Jira, with most teams on Jira Cloud, Atlassian's primary hosted platform, and Jira Data Center used in larger enterprises. You learn features relevant to today's Jira environments.

Course Content

What topics does the Fundamentals level cover?

Fundamentals covers navigating Jira, creating Scrum, Kanban and business projects, managing issues, running boards and sprints, roadmaps and releases, and using filters, basic JQL and Agile reports such as velocity and burndown.

What topics does the Advanced level cover?

Advanced covers custom workflow design, permission, notification and screen schemes, custom fields, advanced JQL, dashboards, Jira automation, integrations with Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub and CI/CD tools, and Jira administration.

Will I learn JQL and reporting?

Yes. You learn to build saved filters and write JQL queries, then turn that data into dashboards and Agile reports, including velocity charts, burndown charts and cumulative flow diagrams, for real delivery visibility.

Does the course cover Jira automation and integrations?

At Advanced level, yes. You build no-code automation rules using triggers, conditions and actions, and connect Jira to Confluence, Bitbucket, GitHub and CI/CD pipelines for end-to-end DevOps delivery tracking.

Is the training hands-on?

Yes. Both levels are delivered with live instructor demonstration and hands-on exercises in a Jira environment, using realistic Agile delivery scenarios so you practise every feature as you learn it.
