Is there an exam for Design for Six Sigma training?

What will I receive on completing the course?

Does this course prepare me for a Six Sigma belt exam?

Not directly. DFSS training focuses on design methodology (DMADV) rather than the DMAIC content of belt exams. It complements Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt training well, as it adds the design counterpart to your skill set.

What topics does the Design for Six Sigma course cover?

The course covers all six DFSS modules: an introduction to DFSS and DMADV, the Define phase (VOC, Kano, charter), Measure (CTQ flow-down, QFD), Analyse (concept selection, DFMEA), Design (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and Verify (verification, validation, design scorecard and transfer).

What is the DMADV roadmap?

DMADV stands for Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. It is the most widely used DFSS roadmap, guiding a design from customer requirements through measurable CTQs, concept selection, robust design and verification before launch.

Which tools will I practise during the training?

You practise Voice of the Customer capture, CTQ flow-down, the QFD House of Quality, the Pugh concept selection matrix, Design FMEA with RPN, and robust design using the P-diagram, all applied to realistic product or process design scenarios.

How long is the course and what is the format?

The course runs for one day (8 hours), available as a full day or two half-days. It is delivered live virtual (online), in the classroom, or onsite for corporate teams, with hands-on exercises throughout.

Do I need any software for the course?

No specialised software is required to attend. The course builds awareness of Design of Experiments and references Minitab for statistical analysis, but the focus is on DFSS methodology and tools you can apply with your team.
